2009 Year in Review What have been the events that have stood out in your personal life in 2009?
Preparation for 2010 Phil 3:12 - Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
1. Forget What is Behind • Faith Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. • Overcome Bitterness Heb. 12:15 – See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many

Forget What is Behind • Be Grateful 2 Peter 1:3 – His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. • Must go back and deal with sin and shame - Freedom. Gal 5:13 - You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
2. Strain towards what is ahead • Understand your sinful nature Romans 7:18 – I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. James 4:17 – Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
2. Strain towards what is ahead • Challenge your thinking Col. 3:2 - Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Phil. 4:8 - Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Press on towards the goal to win the prize • Take a routine spiritual assessment • Know that your walk with God Matters Mat. 5:13 – You are the salt of the Earth . 1 Peter 5:9 - Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings
