Teaches first aid, mine rescue, foreman's school, and fire boss classes and initial electrical and annual electrical retraining classes. Attends safety meetings and consults with mine operators and employees on safety matters. Assists with mine rescue and recovery work during and after mine fires and gas ignitions. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Five (5) years experience in coal mines. A bachelor's degree in mining engineering from a recognized institution will substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. An associate degree in Mining technology from a recognized institution will substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Contact the regulatory agency for application procedures. For schedule of examinations contact the District Office in Martin, Hazard, Harlan, London, Pikeville, or Madisonville. Must pass the Mine Inspectors and Electrical certification exam, with a score of 80% in all subjects. Examination fee of $50.00. Should you fail, apply to retake the next time the test is administered.
