  2. India, a union of states, is a Sovereign, Secular, Democratic Republic with a Parliamentary system of Government. There are 29 states and 9 Union Territories in the country.

  3. ANDHRA PRADESH • Location- southeastern coast of India • Main occupation -agriculture and mining •  Capital –Hyderabad • Language spoken -Telugu • Area-160,205km2 • Population - 4.96 crores

  4. ARUNACHAL PRADESH • Northeastern state of the country • Border sharing - Bhutan in the west and Myanmar in the east • Capital -Itanagar • Official language -English • Area- 83,743km2 • Population -1,382,611

  5. ASSAM • Location- Northeast of India • Border sharing -Bhutan and Bangladesh  • Capital -Dispur • Language spoken - Assamese • Area -78,438km2 • Population - 31,169,272
