  1. Stress Incontinence Treatment Options Stress urinary incontinence happens when there is extra pressure (or stress) on the bladder. Usually, this causes urges to urinate or, even worse, urinary leaks, a problem that affects close to 33 million in the US alone. The leaks may also happen if there is physical movement or other stress, like coughing, sneezing, and laughing. As a woman who battles SUI, you do not have to suffer in silence, while you can have non-invasive Stress Incontinence Treatment options. Causes of Stress Urinary Incontinence Different causes can cause stress urinary incontinence. Some of the common activities that usually trigger urinary leaks include: Nerve and muscle damage. Loss of pelvic muscle tone. Surgeries affecting the pelvic floor. Obesity. Menopause. Chronic coughing due to lung disease or smoking. Sneezing. Coughing. Heavy-lifting. High-intensity activities such as working out and exercising. Laughing. The leaks may differ from a single drop to more, but none is wanted. Do not ignore the signs, but rather, see an expert immediately. Stress Incontinence Treatment Options There can be different treatment options depending on the severity of your incontinence. A medical expert should advise you accordingly in this case. You can consider among the following options, though.

  2. Pelvic Floor Therapy: Pelvic Floor Muscle exercises can be a good line of defense to consider when you are certain it is the muscles that are weak. Usually, they are weak and cannot support pelvic floor organs, including the bladder, and may lead to bladder leakages. The stronger the muscles, the easier it is to hold urine until it is convenient for you to release it. Biofeedback: You may also use biofeedback to measure the effectiveness of your Kegels (pelvic floor exercises). You can do that together with Kegels to also identify the right muscles and measure the intensity of your Kegels. A physical therapist can advise you on the right Kegel devices to use in that case. Lose Excess Weight: Being overweight is another recipe for developing stress urinary incontinence. The excess weight you are putting on puts extra stress on your pelvic floor as well as the bladder. A healthy diet will see you lose the excess weight and help to manage the symptoms. Pelvic Floor Stimulation: This is Pelvic Floor Therapy too. It works with electrical stimulation, where electrical Kegel devices help to exercise and tone the pelvic floor muscles. A PT can advise on the best device too. You should always talk to an expert beforehand. If you are unsure of some solutions, ensure your medical expert knows about them first and advises you.
