  1. Things To Consider Before Adding A Second Storey Addition Getting added first floor extensions at home can seem overwhelming and difficult and a task altogether. This is natural to feel a little stressed out because eventually you are giving your house a double area by creating a whole new floor for the family to love. After communicating with various family owners and engineers, it can be concluded that second storey additions can be considered as an effective way to give a new shape to your house by adding more space and increasing the overall value. What Exactly to consider when adding a second storey: 1.Building Regulations: Before one even begins to consider any construction work by adding a second floor to the house, one needs to check with the local council or office. There are times when there are supposedly high requirements or restrictions which do not allow to add a second floor to the house. However, if majority of the neighbours have added a second storey then it should probably be fine. Still, we do recommend everyone to seek permission and then continue any sort of construction work. 2.Foundation: The contractors make sure to check the existing foundation and how strong it is. It is vital to check it the existing foundation will have the ability handle any sort of extra weight. The weight of adding an extra floor will be a lot and will require a thorough check.
