Learning outcomes • Enhance knowledge of EU law on environment • Raise the level of knowledge in acoustics • Develop an understanding of the correlation between flow and noise and methods of the noise reduction
Project description - Intro • More than 80 million of the EU citizens are exposed to the noise levels that scientists and health experts consider to be unacceptable • Additional 170 million Europeans are seriously annoyed by the noise in their residential areas, especially during the daytime • Through the years noise issue had lesser significance than air or water pollution. Now it is regarded as a serious health hazard, not just a nuisance

Project description - Goals • The first task of the project is to check the acoustic characteristics of the existing anechoic room • The project will be realised basing on experimental tests performed at the unique aerodynamic anechoic room at the Institute of Turbomachinery with high-end measuring equipment • The main task will be anechoic room tuning by improvement of its acoustic characteristics • Calculations of costs of the proposed method and some other benefits are also to be considered.
