5. Helpful Information DOG AND CATE BITES • Animal quarantine is required if rabies status is unknown. • High frequency of wound infection with pasteurella and other oral pathogens. • Likely to require antibiotic treatment.

6. Helpful Information REPTILE AND BIRD BITES • Possible exposure to bacterial pathogens that sometimes require antibiotic treatment for deep wounds.

7. Helpful Information LARGE ANIMAL BITES (COWS/HORSES) • Animal quarantine is required if rabies status is unknown. • Extent of medical care depends upon the degree of tissue trauma.
