  1. Puzzles Are Great For Your Brain Jigsaw puzzles are hardly new. They've been around since the 17th century, and have developed from hand-cut wooden educational tools into a massive industry that targets both adults and children. They have certainly survived the test of time, providing education and hours of tranquil time passed. Research has shown that toys provide lasting positive effects on our health and health. As children we were most likely to be exposed to jigsaws. They are toys that serve to teach words, shapes, colors, and geography and also provide a focussed and quiet time for children and parents alike. They are used in schools to teach, in waiting rooms to pacify and improve fine motor skills in children, and help them prepare for reading. Studies are now showing real-world benefits of continuing the habit through adulthood. Studies, like the notable MacArthur study, have demonstrated that keeping the mind active through jigsaw puzzles, as well as other brain-training activities can result in a greater lifespan, and a higher quality of life, as well as reducing the chance of developing certain types of mental illness. This includes dementia, memory loss and even Alzheimer's Disease. What is the way to allow this toy that is so simple that can accomplish such amazing feats? Most likely , it's because of the simultaneous use of both sides of the brain. The left brain hemisphere, our analytical side, is able to see all of the separate pieces and attempts to sort them out logically. The right brain hemisphere, our creative part, perceives the "big picture" and works intuitively. Both kinds of thinking are necessary to put the portable puzzle table. When we train both of the right and left brain simultaneously, we form "connections" between them, as well as between individual brain cells. These connections improve our ability to learn, comprehend and remember. Additionally, the process of completing the puzzle or even the successful placement one piece, stimulates the production of dopamine an essential brain chemical that enhances memory and learning. The connections formed while working on jigsaw puzzles aren't only restricted to brain cells. Exercising both sides of the brain simultaneously also lets the brain move from a Beta state, the wakeful mind, to the "Alpha" state. This is the similar mental state that we experience while sleeping. The Alpha state allows us to tap into the subconscious mind. Jigsaw puzzles naturally trigger this state of creativeand focused meditation, where connections can be made at deeper levels. Jigsaw puzzles are a distinctive exercise that lets us attain a state of creativity concentration, as well as the opportunity to have fun and create satisfaction. The benefits to the brain are becoming clearer. What's more important are the effects of the subconscious in helping us piece together this puzzle we call life. The reason Jigsaw Puzzles Are Good For The Brain The human brain is divided into two hemispheres, also known as lobes. Each focuses on different tasks. The right brain handles emotions and completes tasks in an integrated way, while

  2. the left brain works in a linear manner. If you can use both the sides of your brain, you'll find that your mind power is harnessed to its maximum capacity and becomes better. Jigsaw puzzles can help you train both sides of your brain. Left brain is logical and follows a sequence, whereas the right brain is more creative, intuitive and emotional. If you are trying to put together the pieces of a puzzle, you draw both brainpower. When solving jigsaw puzzles it has been proven that there exists continuous activity thought the brain involving all the cells and the brain. This intense activity is able to train brain cells, and thereby activate them and enhance their effectiveness and capacity too.
