  1. An Ultimate Guide on the Important Applications of Titanium Dioxide

  2. Introduction Titanium dioxide is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium and the ninth most element found on the earth's crust with a chemical formula TiO2. It is an inert material used for a wide range of purposes for decades. Titanium dioxide is mainly used in the paint, cosmetics and food industries. Statistics show that in 2014 the production of titanium dioxide exceeded 9 million tonnes and it has rapidly increased in the current era. In this presentation, we shall discuss about TiO2 and its major applications.

  3. What is Titanium Dioxide Titanium dioxide is the naturally occurring oxide of the element titanium. It is a bright white organic compound in use for more than 100 years in a broad range of products. Mainly, titanium dioxide is used in catalytic coatings, plastics, paper, pharmaceuticals and sunscreen, packaging, commercial printing inks, other cosmetics, toothpastes, food and many more. Manytitanium dioxide distributors in Tanzania offers TIO2 at the best rates.

  4. Major Uses of Titanium Dioxide

  5. In Paints & Coatings: Titanium dioxide is widely used in the paint and coating industry due to its opacity and durability. These features help to protect the painted surface and guarantee the persistence of the paint used. There are many titanium dioxide distributors in Tanzania who offers reliable titanium dioxide at the affordable prices. In Cosmetics: Pure titanium dioxide is a fine white powder that provides a bright white pigment. Another form of titanium dioxide is the pigment grade titanium dioxide that offers exceptional light-scattering properties. In cosmetics, we use the pigment grade titanium dioxide. It helps to hide blemishes and brightens the skin textures.

  6. In Paper: Titanium dioxide is used in coating paper. This makes the paper whiter, brighter and more opaque. In Plastics, Rubber & Adhesives: As a result of over-exposure to sunlight, materials like plastic, rubber etc. get cracked. By coating these materials with pigment-grade titanium dioxide, the brittleness, fading and cracking can be reduced and makes it suitable to be used for a long period of time.

  7. In Food Materials & Ingredients: Titanium dioxide is used in coating paper. This makes the paper whiter, brighter and more opaque. In Plastics, Rubber & Adhesives: Direct exposure to ultraviolet radiations can cause the premature degradation of food, beverages, supplements, pharmaceuticals etc. The high opacity offered by titanium dioxide to the sunlight helps to rectify this issue. Some high-class pigment grade titanium dioxideis used in the production of drug tablets, coatings of capsules and decorative material in some food items.

  8. As a Catalyst: Titanium dioxide is also used as a backing material in catalyst applications. Mainly, in the automotive industry titanium dioxide is used as a catalyst to remove toxic exhaust gas emissions and in power stations to remove nitrous oxides. In Thin Films: When installed as a thin film, its refractive index and colour make it an outstanding reflective optical coating for dielectric mirrors; it is also used in creating decorative thin films.

  9. Why Fortune Emirates? Fortune Emirates is one of the leading Titanium Dioxide distributors in Tanzania, Africa, UAE and all across the Middle East.
