  3. Metal Braces Metal braces are the most inexpensive type of braces available out there. These traditional braces are usually made using stainless steel. Metal braces has a thin wire frame that holds rubber bands to put pressure on the teeth in order to move them to the desired position. However, one major drawback of metal braces is that they are conspicuous. Moreover, they can cause irritation in gums and cheeks during the initial stage. Also, metal braces require you to keep a watch on what you eat in order to avoid any food particle from sticking to the braces. Eating hard foods can also move or displace the braces.

Even though ceramic braces do not stain, the ties can easily discolor. herefore to maintain a clean look, the ties may need replacement frequently. Also, ceramic braces can break or chip easily. However, the disadvantage of this type of braces is that they are not suitable for small teeth. They can also hinder the movement of your tongue, thereby causing speech problems and injuries.
