About AUSTRALIAN Education • The Australian education system is broadly divided into the university, vocational, school and English language sectors. • University is the highest level of study in Australia. There are 41 universities in total - 38 public (government funded) and three private. You can study at the undergraduate level (Bachelor degree) or postgraduate level (Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Masters, PhD). • Vocational institutions are closely linked with industry, making courses very practical and skill-based. Application Decisions • Universities take at least 1 to 4 weeks to get back with a decision.
Letter of offer: • This can be a conditional offer which is subjected to you meeting certain condition. (e.g. English Language.) You must fill the conditions stated in you offer before it can be changed to a full offer. • Or • Full Offer along with information on how to accept the offer, course details , tuition fee details, Deposit required and Overseas student health cover ( OSHC) Charges payable details.
Acceptance of Offer: • Upon receipt of the acceptance and full payment of the required initial deposit.

PT work and FT work • PT • Students are allowed to work part time on their visa • Maximum 20 hours per week (term period) and 40 hours per week during vacations • Can earn minimum AUS $ 10- 15 per hour • Job shops to assist • First settle down with course and then look for PT jobs • FT • Students have to start applying for jobs as soon as they have settled down with the course • They can contact the careers office within university • NO campus placements • Can post their CVs on job portals • Attend career fairs that happen in major cities
Post Study Work • 18 month temporary visa • For overseas students with an Australian qualification obtained in Australia after at least two (2) years study. • Allows applicants who are unable to pass the points test to remain in Australia for 18 months to gain the skills and experience needed to apply for a permanent or provisional General Skilled Migration visa. No points test applies.
COST • Tuition fees • As an international student, you must pay your tuition fees up-front. • University fees for undergraduate courses range from AUD$ 12,000 to AUD$ 26,000 per annum. Fees for classroom based courses average about AUD$ 10,000 per annum. Vocational courses cost an average of AUD$ 8000 per annum. • Aside from tuition fees, some institutions may also charge for other student costs, such as library, laboratory or sports facility costs. Excursions, books and stationery are other costs to consider, and your course may also require specific essential materials, such as lab coats or photographic supplies. • Your institution will provide you with information on how and when to pay your tuition fees.

Cost of LivingThe cost of living in Australia can vary based on your choice of city or town. A single student in Australia will need between AUD$18,000/- a year. Australian Universities Quality Agency • The Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) is an independent, national quality assurance body that audits the key activities of teaching, learning, research and management in Australian universities on a five-year cycle. Where an Australian university offers courses at an offshore campus or through an agent, the institution is be expected to maintain standards at least equivalent to those provided in Australia and carry full responsibility for all aspects of delivery.
