Tips for Cracking the Writing Section of the IELTS Exam The biggest concerns of the Indian students appearing for their IELTS exam are the Writing and Speaking section. applied. Tenses are usually what students are confused about. For the IELTS Writing section, one needs to know Simple Present, Simple Past, Present Perfect and Past Perfect tenses only. Some other IELTS Preparation tips for writing section • It is advisable to begin with Task 2 first as it has more weightage and is relatively easier too • Timing is another constraint. You get 1 hour to attempt the two tasks, divided as 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
