  1. Researching the History of an Unfamiliar Sport Middle School By: Mr. Brett Miller

  2. Step 1: • Click Start • Lower left corner • Click Internet Explorer Icon

  3. Step 2: • Click in the Address Box and the Box will become blue. • Type, http://www.google.com/ • Press the ENTER key.

  4. Next… • This screen should appear when you press enter. • Now type in to the space, History of Sports • Then press enter again.

  5. This screen will come up

  6. Click the HickokSports.com link and look at the different sports and their history.

  7. On this page there will be the alphabet (A-Z), Scroll down and choose what sport you want to do. Click on the sport you choose.

  8. Next… • There are plenty of sports for everyone, but when you pick, make a list of three sports you are interested in. • When you have a list of three sports come to me and tell me. • Once you get a sport, click on it, and start the next step.

  9. Next… I chose Bocce! I clicked on it and this screen came up.

  10. Now the Fun Part.. • Take the history information from the page that comes up and give the class a brief history presentation on the sport. • You need to have a one page double spaced paper for your presentation. • The Speech needs to be 2-3 minutes and everyone will be presenting in the next class period.

  11. Make Sure You Cite Your Source.. • Citing your source is very important. If you use someone else’s information, you need to give them credit. • Not citing your sources is plagiarism, and this has serious consequences. • Cite the source, your information is from hickoksports.com, and everyone used the search engine google.com as well. • Here is the proper citation for these sites: Hickok, Ralph.
