  2. WHAT IS ROOT CANAL TREATMENT? The root canal refers to the natural empty space in the middle of your tooth. In this chamber, there is pulp. It is also here that your tooth’s nerve is found. Root canal treatment is recommended for teeth that are badly decayed or infected.

  3. ROOT CANAL PROCEDURE 1. An X-ray will be done to pinpoint the exact location of the infection or decay. 2. The procedure is performed, where an opening is made on top of the tooth. Through the opening, our dentist will remove the nerve and pulp inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth. The nerve only is not vitally necessary to your tooth’s functions after the tooth has emerged from your gums and only provides sensation of hot and cold. In some cases, medicine is applied inside the tooth and a temporary filling is placed until the next appointment. 3. Next, the canals are flushed clean and dried, then sealed with an inert material. The opening is also sealed with a permanent filling. When necessary, a post is inserted to support this permanent filling as well. 4. A crown is then placed over the tooth to protect the tooth.
