  1. Who is at risk for emotional dysregulation and what causes it? Early childhood trauma, child neglect, and traumatic brain injury are a few potential causes. As a result of chronic low levels of invalidation in their contexts, people can develop emotional dysregulation due to biological predispositions for emotional reactivity. In people with depression and anxiety disorders, emotional dysregulation is often not recognised as a problem. Due to their more acute emotional experiences, propensity for rumination, and frequency of environmental invalidation, females are more likely than male to suffer from emotional dysregulation. Emotional dysregulation: How widespread is it? Borderline personality disorder, which affects more than 50% of patients in psychiatric hospitals and 4% to 6% of the general population, is fundamentally characterised by chronic emotional dysregulation. Teenage girls are more likely than their male classmates to experience emotional dysregulation. Males are more likely than females to suffer from borderline personality disorder when it comes to substance use problems. To know what is emotional dysregulation, visit our website.
