Why do I put CBD oil in my coffee every day? By Dominique Siojo It all started on a hike to the Green Sand Beach in Big Island Hawaii. My sister and I tried to make the trek a different day, but were advised that flip flops were not going to be enough for the rough 3 mile hike we were about to embark on. We decide to go another day, and that is when we met the lovely couple we latched on to, in fear of getting lost in the wild gorgeous hills of Hawaii. If you’ve ever hiked to the Green Sand Beach, you’ll know that there is one clear trail (so it’s hard to get lost), aside from the tire marks the locals have created for their lucrative business of driving those tourists who didn’t come prepared for the long hike. It’s a lot of sand, rocks, whatever weeds grow in sand, and the cliff side. You can see the ocean and as you’re walking in the heat with no sign of shade… you ask yourself several times “are we there yet?” You’re not. It was the longest 3 miles, I ever walked.
Luckily, we met this couple at the beginning of our journey and we learned all about how this woman hiking with us was unable to walk just a few months prior. Not only that but previous to her horrific car accident, she also had breast cancer. In case you’re wondering, we made it to the Green Sand Beach, and we returned some green sand in a vial a vendor gifted us because we believe its bad luck to take from Pele. The beach was rough, we watched a few people “play” in the water. I put my feet in, but could feel the ocean’s pull was too strong for me to jump in and rinse all the dust that collected on me during the hike. After a couple hours of taking in the beauty of this little cove we hiked back to our cars hungry, and all we could talk about was food. We ended up grabbing dinner with this couple. We went to the most southern restaurant bar in the USA, Shaka! At least according to their sign. At dinner, my sister and I talk about staying in Hilo, and how much we enjoy the quietness of it all. What we don’t enjoy are the many mosquito bites we had acquired. She handed us some lavender oil to soothe our itch. We began talking about holistic medicine and how it’s changed our lives.
I have had allergies ever since I moved to the US, from the Philippines and every season I expect to be congested, teary eyed, and miserable for months. A colleague of mine recommended acupuncture one year and it cured me of allergies after 6 sessions. It came back this year possibly due to the many fires that occurred, so I went back to acupuncture and have been allergy symptom free since then. She told me about her accident, and how her Medical Doctor recommended she see an acupuncturist for her pain. She too experienced the magic that is acupuncture. She wasn’t supposed to walk after this accident. You’re probably wondering about her husband…her husband didn’t talk that much, but you can tell he’s so grateful that his wife is alive and well. Her acupuncturist recommended some hemp CBD oil for pain relief. While she was from California, she disclosed that they lived in a remote location, and they don’t have as many dispensaries as they do where I lived in Oakland. They only dream of having a delivery service. So when they can, they go to the bay area and buy as much CBD hemp oil as they possibly can until their next trip. Since Premium CBD Hemp Oil is now legal to mail nationwide, I would guess that she now can get it delivered straight to her house. We still had a few days left in Hawaii, and I completely forget about CBD as I eat my way through the island and stuff my face with loco mocos, shave ice, fish sandwiches, and mac salad. However, once I got home I started my research on what CBD is and what the best way to absorb it? Is it safe? Does it work? What’s a good brand? I then started seeing hemp CBD tinctures at grocery stores. One thing I came across during my research was that not all hemp CBD are the same and that you have to make sure you get it from a really good source. So, I went on the hunt for premium hemp CBD tinctures. After hours and hours of research and trials, I found the tincture that works for me and my anxiety. While tinctures are meant to be placed under your tongue, I found that I enjoy putting it in my iced cold brew coffee instead. For months, I was taking CBD but I couldn’t really tell you if it was working. I decided to stop buying, because it is a bit expensive. That’s when I noticed the difference, when I didn’t have it in my system. I’m now back on my daily ritual of cold brew coffee with a touch of CBD, and probably a little less anxious.
