  1. Control Your Diabetes in 5 Easy Steps Want to Cure Diabetes? Click Here Thank you for requesting a copy of this ebook. In this guide I will lay out the most effective steps to take to get you started enjoying a healthy life despite having diabetes. Believe it or not, I’ve even had several people tell me that getting diagnosed with diabetes was the best thing that ever happened to them. I was surprised at first but they explained that it was their wake-up call and they began living a healthier lifestyle because of it. Now they feel better than they have in years. So in the words of my favorite psychologist, Dr. William Polonsky “Don’t freak out”. Help is here for you. You don’t have to go down this path alone. As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator, I also experienced first- hand how devastating uncontrolled diabetes can be. My first husband died of complications from uncontrolled diabetes less than 2 years after we got married. But diabetes CAN be controlled and there aren’t many complications associated with controlled diabetes. I worked in a Diabetes Center for 16 years and learned a lot about diabetes and how to educate people about it in all areas. Diabetes is more than your diet and nutrition – to understand it well you need to consider all the areas of your life and body that can be affected by it. I’ve helped hundreds have hope and feel confident that they know what to do. That makes my day! Before we get into the 5 Steps to Controlling your Diabetes, let’s first explore some key background information you need to understand. What Is Diabetes? To understand how the disease affects you, let’s first look at what happens in a healthy body. When you eat, some of your food is broken down into sugar (also called glucose). Sugar travels in your bloodstream to all your body’s cells. Insulin helps sugar move from your blood into your cells. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas. 2. Control Your Diabetes in 5 Easy Steps Your body prevents the insulin you do make from working right To Cure Diabetes Click Here As a result, sugar can’t get into your cells. So it stays in your blood. That’s why your blood sugar gets too high. Elevated blood sugars over time damage blood vessels and nerves and can lead to complications. While there are many things about diabetes you cannot control, there are action steps that you can choose that will help bring your blood sugars into target. Remember, you do not have to change everything all at once. Some people focus on just one change at a time and add the next one in a week or so, and so on. Of course, the more changes you make the more results you will see. Start making small changes and focus on being consistent and then add another step. This method will be less overwhelming but you will still be improving your lifestyle. Now, let’s move on to the 5 steps to start taking Control of your Diabetes. Control Your Diabetes in 5 Easy Steps 1.Nutrition Discontinue all sugar sweetened beverages (except milk). This includes sweet tea, soft drinks, fruit juice, sports drinks, and fruit punch. Have 3 meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast does not have to be breakfast food or hot, but eat something within an hour of waking up. support@marciapell.com Phone: (850)867-0336 PO Box 693 www.marciapell.com Fax: (888)975-7696 Lynn Haven, FL 32444

  3. Control Your Diabetes in 5 Easy Steps To Cure Diabetes Naturally Click Here There are no foods that you have to give up, or eat. Healthy eating is important for everyone, with or without diabetes. To learn what healthy eating is check out www.ChooseMyPlate.gov. Eat a balanced diet. You should not eliminate any food groups. Starches and grains are healthy, as well as fruit. Whole fruit is better than fruit juice because it has more fiber and you are less likely to overdo fruit compared to juice. Portions sizes are key. Do not eat more than one plate of food at a meal. If you get hungry between meals, have a healthy food as a snack. If you have a dessert, have a small portion. 2.Physical Activity Any physical activity helps your body use insulin better and lowers your blood sugar. This includes aerobic exercise like walking, biking, and swimming but also strength building using weights, tubing and exercise bands. If you are not active at all, start with breaking up your routine of sitting. Get up and walk around every 30 minutes during the day. Gradually add more activity until you are moving at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Some people start by walking 5 minutes or marching in place during TV commercials. Others can do 30 minutes of activity from the start. Start with where you are today and be realistic. Consistency is key. It is fine to break the 30 minutes into three 10-minute sessions, but aim to make it a habit, 5 days a week. Setting a specific goal and tracking your progress improves your chance of success. Reward yourself when you achieve a goal too! support@marciapell.com Phone: (850)867-0336 PO Box 693 www.marciapell.com Fax: (888)975-7696 Lynn Haven, FL 32444

  4. Control Your Diabetes in 5 Easy Steps To Cure Diabetes Naturally Click Here 3.Taking Medicine If your health care provider has prescribed you medicine, you should take it regularly at the times advised. Many people tell me they do not want to be on medicine. If your blood sugar is in target without it, you do not need it. However, when diabetes is not controlled and blood sugars are running high, you are at increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and other complications. I’m a big fan of medicine when needed. Diabetes medicine works in different ways and is one tool of many effective in controlling diabetes. It is not unusual to be prescribed insulin if your blood sugars are high at diagnosis. Insulin is the best tool available to bring down high glucose quickly. In some cases, people come can off insulin. It is a myth that once you take insulin you always will be on it. 4.Monitoring your Glucose Using a meter to check your glucose can give you valuable information about how your plan is working. With a small drop of blood you will have an idea of what your blood sugar is at that time. Think of it as data, or information, that can be useful in determining what is going on with your diabetes, not as a judgment of you as a person with diabetes. There are many uncontrollable factors that influence glucose, such as hormones. It is not always your food that causes elevations. Many people feel guilty, or like a failure, when their sugar is high. Know that sometimes your sugar is high and it is nothing that you have done or not done. Try to relax, eat healthy, move your body, take your medicine as prescribed and be in touch with your health care provider. support@marciapell.com Phone: (850)867-0336 PO Box 693 www.marciapell.com Fax: (888)975-7696 Lynn Haven, FL 32444
