Through such a strong base, the clinic has managed to avoid over 800 Knee Replacements and 2000 Spine surgeries, becoming the most reputed clinic in the country. Please enlighten us about yourself and your professional milestones so far. What was your inspiration while entering the physiotherapy segment of the healthcare industry? Let’s dive in to learn more about Dr Paiwal’s clinic and its operations behind. Dr. Gaurav, kindly brief us about your physiotherapy clinic and the ideas and developments that led to its inception. Well, way back in 2002, when I entered the field, there was no physiotherapist in Udaipur to guide or offer advice. So, it was tough to choose the field. But I found out a lot via various sources in metros and whatever I could find out through the available internet at that time. Then I was fortunate enough to have been taught by the greatest and most elite spine physiotherapists of country in my graduation days, namely, Dr Ramakrishnan Mani and others. They were and are the stalwarts of physiotherapy in the country and moulded my direction towards the problem, which had the highest footfall of any orthopaedic or physiotherapy clinic in the country. This is how it started in 2003, when I had terrible back pain without any cause. It was so severe that I wasn’t able to turn around in bed for two days. Those two days in bed and number of such In 2007, after completing my graduation from the most prestigious physiotherapy college in the country, Manipal College of Allied Health Sciences, I was offered job by the most renowned physiotherapist in the country, Dr. Ali Irani, at Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, on a good package. But, with a vision to create a field for pain physiotherapy and to device a line of treatment for Neck and Back Pain patients suffering from chronic spondylitis and similar problems in my hometown Udaipur and around, I came back here. Vision was very clear that I wanted to device a protocol which can heal slipped disc in lumbar spine or cervical spine and give permanent pain relief to patients plus saving them from Spine surgeries. It took me many years and many degrees to come up with Dr. Paiwal’s Spinal Pain
Most of the medical management goes around to treat symptoms and controlling blood sugar. This is where our specialized physiotherapy protocol comes into play, as we are healing damaged nerves and neurons and promo?ng the repair of various receptor cells in the legs and feet that are sending abnormal painful sensa?ons to the brain from the damaged nerve sites. This protocol we had designed with exper?se of many years.
Unknown Myths About Physiotherapy Physiotherapy is considered a referral prac?ce in India, which means that nearly 80% of the pa?ents needing physiotherapy in any form think that they need a doctor's referral to go to a physiotherapist. This is the biggest drawback in the field. This causes pa?ent loss as they don’t get proper results from physiotherapy on ?me, and physiotherapist loss due to fewer OPD visits. In developed countries, they follow the "First Contact Prac?ce," which means all non-trauma?c cases are referred to a consultant physiotherapist for treatment. This is a huge myth which is slowing the awareness among the crowd for surgery free pain relief treatment. Through pure deep penetra?on physiotherapy treatment via class 4 laser and tecar therapy—which are interna?onal treatment modali?es—we use them with our specially set protocol customized to meet the treatment needs of each pa?ent.

patients in our Manipal OPD made me go into spine pain concepts. In contemporary times, effective pain management has become a necessity for most people. How is your clinic meeting this demand efficiently, especially with the use of emerging technological solutions? Almost everyone feels such pain sometime in their life. For instance, knee pain comes in by 30s or 40s if any sports injury history is there earlier or in early 50s in case of no such injury. Pain in such active and responsible years disturbs the life a lot. A lot of fear sets in. Fear of pain comes from bad experiences. This is where our role comes in. We are healing it completely. Emerging technological advances has made the line of treatment very effective and long lasting as compared what we used to give earlier. Better technology, better penetration, better healing, and thus better pain relief for patients What has been your approach to solving the increasing prevalence of diabetic neuropathy? How is it revolutionizing the industry? Pain in such ac?ve and responsible years disturbs the life a lot. A lot of fear sets in. Fear of pain comes from bad experiences. This is where our role comes in. We are healing it completely. Diabetic Neuropathy is basically common in geriatric patients with uncontrolled blood sugar levels and with variable and unexplained clinical features like burning, tingling, soreness, tenderness, pricking, and throbbing in the leg and foot with or without a padded sole or a thick sole. Most of the medical management goes around to treat symptoms and controlling blood sugar. This is where our specialized physiotherapy protocol comes into play, as we are healing damaged nerves and neurons and promoting the repair of various receptor cells in the legs and feet that are sending abnormal painful sensations to the brain from the
damaged nerve sites. This protocol we had designed with expertise of many years. In your opinion, what are the major challenges in the physiotherapy niche? How are you using your leadership skills to turn them into opportunities? A few of the major challenges are: distance education physiotherapists (people who have qualified from distance education before 2010), the monopoly of allopathy in the pain industry, and Indian Association of Physiotherapists Politics. To elaborate, the country has nearly one lakh physiotherapists, of whom only 50% are graduates from colleges where they studied physiotherapy as a science. 50% are quakes who have passed out from college seeking degrees from distance education method. How can a doctor who is taught through the distance education method render actual treatment? This is where quality treatment is lost in our country. So, half the treatment in country is being done by them out of all patients. Hospitals hire them on low salaries and with fewer facilities to exploit. Our national association, IAP have already given membership to many such quakes to work. This is how politics have come in. And lastly, pain industry in India is controlled by conventional medical system reason being. They are more in number, fast recovery, and less of qualified physios in country who can treat. What are the future goals of your clinic? How do you envision upscaling its operations and extending its reach in 2022 and beyond? The dream is to heal everyone’s slipped disc in the lumbar or cervical spine and osteoarthritis pain, especially. Upscaling is a long process. Right now, making patient base for that. Eyeing few patented treatments to offer in the near future. Spine pain industry would be too big in the years to come, reason being everyone is walking on spine and their spine is in too much stress. As an expert in the field, what would be your word of advice to budding entrepreneurs wishing to enter this healthcare segment? Please share any clientele, awards, or recognition (if available or permissible). Clear your educational content thoroughly while you are in college. Just passing exams is not enough. Thorough knowledge is necessary to surpass professional competition by a huge margin. Secondly, have expertise in one or two diseases. Nobody can be expert in all. Just find your potential as per your interest and work to refine it again and again. Learning is a lifelong process, as is refining your skills. Don’t stop with less. Clientele: Those suffering from Neck and Back Pain, Osteoarthritis and Diabetic Foot or Neuropathy in Rajasthan and neighboring states.

10 Most Reliable Physiotherapy Clinics to Know in 2023 Anjali Physio Care I t's been a while since you're suffering from physical pain in your body and none of the medication is quite helping you. From consultation, physical assessment and diagnosis, to psychological counseling, you seek a customized treatment plan for your recovery. and anatomical knowledge. And physiotherapy stream was an unexplored line of medical science as compared to any other field. Please tell us about yourself and your role at the clinic. I am the Director of the clinic. After completing my graduation in 2009 from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Indore, M. P., I started my journey from Bangalore where I worked in different hospitals and clinics In an interview with Insights Care, Dr. Anjali Telang, the Director of Anjali Physio Care and Senior Consultant, talks about the clinic's mission and operations to support patients in keeping their bones and muscles healthy. Our mission is to add quality life for every individual and encourage them to do exercises every day. At present, most people have a sedentary lifestyle due to si?ng jobs. Keeping bones and muscles healthy is the key to quality life. Following are the excerpts from the interview. Brief us about the clinic. What led to its inception? Anjali Physio Care is an advanced Physiotherapy center that runs on the principles of prevention and treating the root cause of the problem. We have a dedicated team of physiotherapists committed to the well-being of our patients. I always wanted to help people having challenges with physical health and I possess strong problem-solving skills March 2023 17|www.healthcareeverything.com
for more than a year. Then I worked as a freelancer in London, followed by Singapore for two years. In 2013, I moved to Pune and started my own clinic Anjali Physio Care—an advanced Physiotherapy center. Thus, awareness and the importance of Physiotherapy are required in society. Anjali Physio Care runs various online/offline sessions, home programs, webinars and workshops so that the mass community can get the benefit of physiotherapy. What are the mission and vision of the clinic? What technological support does the clinic uses to conduct its operations? Our mission is to add quality to the life of every individual and encourage them to do exercises every day. At present, most people have a sedentary lifestyle due to sitting jobs. Keeping bones and muscles healthy is the key to a quality life. Anjali Physio Care operates on electrotherapy machines which include IFT, US THERAPY, TENS, EMS, and various exercise equipment which help in reducing patients' pain and other issues related to muscles and ligaments. It provides stability to joints and ligaments. By the end of this year, we plan to add advanced therapy machines such as matrix rhythm therapy, Laser, etc, to the current set of therapy equipment. Tell us about the services offered by Anjali Physio Care. We have provided our services to 15k plus patients and helped more than 500 patients to avoid their surgeries for slipped discs in the cervical and lumber spine. What challenges do you go through at the clinic and how do you turn them into opportunities for growth? Apart from that, we also provide post-operative care and home care for cases like fractures, sports injuries, accidents, burn and neurological conditions, and help them to live their life happily and independently. Physiotherapy requires patience and time commitment from patients who want to achieve results. It's not the case where you visit a doctor once and takes medicines for a prescribed period. Encouraging patients to visit the clinic for a prescribed duration of time, out of their busy schedules, is a challenge. What is the need for customized treatment for patients in healthcare? Customized treatment protocols for each patient according to their conditions help to deliver care and full recovery. Apart from electrotherapy and exercises, expertise in advanced treatments like dry needling therapy, cupping therapy, sports tapping, chiropractic treatment, and core strengthening are the key elements of our protocol. At Anjali Physio Care, we focus on patient health and satisfaction which provides us with opportunities to grow. To motivate patients for effective treatment, we share success stories with similar cases, provide home visits and develop a treatment plan for the patients who are not able to visit the clinic. We also conduct personal follow-ups to make sure they are following the treatment protocol. What do you think is required to improve the care measures in the healthcare sector? How do you plan to scale the clinic's operations in 2023? The healthcare system needs to focus on awareness of physiotherapy among the people so that they can educate them on the advantages of physiotherapy measures over medicine. As physiotherapy is still not considered a first line of treatment in the field of medical health and society. By the end of this year, we are planning to open multiple branches in other parts of the city. This will help us expand and provide care to the people. Our target is to focus on offering the best Physiotherapy services to society with maximum accessibility. Moreover, most insurance companies do not accept Physiotherapy claims without reference from orthopedic doctors. As a result, most of the patients seek physiotherapy treatment only after a reference from Orthopaedic doctors. March 2023 18|www.healthcareeverything.com

Albeit the tips underneath may free many sorts from pressure, they may not assist individuals with these circumstances. Let's delve and have a look at evidence-based ways to manage stress March 2023 21|www.healthcareeverything.com
Increase Physical Activity Procrastination was linked to higher stress levels in a Chinese study of 140 medical students. According to the study, procrastination and delayed stress responses were also associated with more negative parenting styles, such as punishment and rejection. A 6-week study on 185 college understudies found that participating in vigorous activity two days out of every week fundamentally diminished apparent pressure and saw pressure because of vulnerability. In addition, self-reported depression was significantly reduced due to the exercise routine. Give yourself some uninterrupted time while you work on the things that need to be done today. Multitasking or switching between tasks can be stressful in and of itself. Numerous other studies have demonstrated that engaging in physical activity helps reduce stress levels and improve mood, whereas sedentary behavior may increase stress, low mood and trouble sleeping. Practice Mindfulness Mindfulness is a practice that anchors you to the current second. Meditation and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), a type of cognitive behavioral therapy, are two methods of stress reduction that use mindfulness. Common mental health conditions like anxiety and depression can be alleviated with regular exercise. Start with light activities like biking or walking if you are currently inactive. If you choose something you enjoy, you might have a better chance of keeping it up over time. Even if you only meditate briefly, regular meditation can help you feel better and lessen your stress and anxiety symptoms. Follow a Healthy Diet There are a lot of books, apps and websites that can teach you the basics of meditation if you want to try it. Additionally, there may be therapists in your area who are trained in MBCT Your diet impacts all aspects of your health, including mental health. According to studies, a diet high in ultra- processed foods and added sugar is linked to higher levels of perceived stress. Spend Time in Nature Chronic stress can cause you to overeat and reach for highly palatable foods, harming your mood and overall health. Spending more time outdoors may assist in stress reduction. It demonstrates that being immersed in nature and spending time in outdoor spaces like parks and forests are healthy ways to manage stress. You can help ensure your body is adequately nourished by consuming fewer highly processed foods and beverages and eating more whole foods like vegetables, fruits, beans, fish, nuts, and seeds. In turn, this might make you more able to handle stress. According to a review of 14 studies, college-aged people may benefit from spending as little as 10 minutes in a natural setting to improve psychological and physiological markers of mental well-being, such as perceived stress and happiness. Minimize Phone Use and Screen Time Many people are forced to use smartphones, computers and tablets daily. While these gadgets are often important, utilizing them over and over again may increase anxiety. Camping and hiking are great options, but not everyone enjoys or has access to them. You can look for green spaces like local parks, arboretums and botanical gardens, even in a city. In general, spending too much time in front of screens is linked to lower psychological well-being and higher stress levels in adults and children, according to several studies. Excessive smartphone use is also known as "Phone addiction." In a nutshell, Evidently, stress is an unavoidable part of our lives. However, being chronically stressed is most likely to affect our physical and mental health. Learn to Avoid Procrastination Keeping on top of your priorities and avoiding procrastination is another way to take control of your stress. Screen time may also have a negative impact on sleep, which in turn may increase stress levels. Your productivity may suffer due to procrastination, leaving you scrambling to catch up. This can make you feel stressed, which is terrible for your health and sleep quality. Thanks to the above-mentioned ways that help to reduce stress, anxiety and improve overall psychological well- being. Although there are many ways to manage and reduce stress on your own, getting help from professionals is important when needed. - Shreyasi Shelke March 2023 22|www.healthcareeverything.com

Green Theatre: Focusing on Sustainabil?y Operating The Next Step In Greener Surgical Single Use Plastic N emissions annually and spends over £50 million a year on carbon permits. of devices. From test equipment like vials and beakers to surgical instruments, catheters, and implants, plastics are used more and more for their high performance, lightweight and lower costs. Single-use devices are safer than reusable ones (reprocessing comes with environmental impact as well). HS aims to be the world's first net zero national health service. The NHS in England is responsible for around 20 million tonnes of carbon dioxide Doctor Code: Do No Harm Single-use medical device plastics are used in surgery worldwide as a necessary part of safety and efficacy. Device origin is well documented in production teams and regulatory documentation but mostly unknown beyond the manufactures name on the box. This article aims to give a snapshot of where medical device plastic comes from, what happens when it is disposed of, and why it may not be as bad as you think. Diverse medical applications, product durability and biocompatibility are all important factors that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of medical plastic products must consider to meet market demands. Just as important, medical-grade plastic materials must meet regulatory requirements throughout the globe. To ensure that the plastic material is safe and effective for medical products, polymers for medical devices are generally made of thermoplastic materials. High-income countries generate, on average up to 0.5 kg of hazardous waste per hospital bed per day and an operating theatre list around 6.5kg. This is the modern journey of medical plastic to and from an operating room. Polypropylene is a cost-effective medical-grade plastic material and is used where steam-sterilized medical devices are necessary. In addition to resistance to steam sterilization, mechanical performance properties of polypropylene include durability for the number of cycles it can be reused. Its recyclability also makes it an attractive medical-grade plastic. Polypropylene is a lower carbon plastic than others (for example, PVC and Polyethylene) therefore being a lower impact material to use. Step 1: The Plastic in its original form Medical plastic products have become more advanced as the global market for high-quality medical devices continues to expand. Such devices have become a necessary and vital component in the modern healthcare system. Medical plastic products are available in a wide assortment March 2023 24|www.healthcareeverything.com
Step 2: Using self-retaining retractors as an example For illustration, this article uses a well-established and commonly used surgical retractor (Galaxy II from JUNE Medical) made out of Terlux. A plastic injection-molded single-use, self-retaining surgical retractor. Approximately 10 000 self-retaining ring retractors are used in the UK annually. Modern versions are lightweight, with the most innovative frame weighing in at only 62g. Calculation of 1 Year Use of 1 device (production Co2) 62g per unit x 10,000 units = 620kg *3.5k (as the upper value) is 2170kg = 2.17 tonnes CO2 / year from manufacture as an upper limit (1.24 tonnes as lower) A self-retaining surgical retractor (Galaxy II) available via NHS Supply Chain Angela Spang Angela Spang is the inventor of The Queen's Award-winning medical device Galaxy II. She is passionate about making surgery safer and easier and works alongside some of the world's best surgeons to make their (and her own) ideas into useful medical devices. Terlux Processing: Injection Molding, Film Extrusion, Profile Extrusion, Sheet Extrusion, Blow Molding, Thermoforming Delivery form: Pellets Special Characteristics: Transparent, melts at 220 degrees Celsius Brighton, where it is stored in controlled environments. Terlux beads (coloured or clear) are then melted and/or mixed and injection moulded in large machines that fill metal moulds with melted Terlux into the unique shape of Galaxy II frames and cam locks. Delivered via boat transport to United Kingdom in containers, Terlux is shipped to the manufacturing site in March 2023 25|www.healthcareeverything.com
Assembly Parts are inspected, cleaned and quality checked by trained staff, and put into a clean room for assembly. Frames are then hand assembled according to strict work instructions, and again quality checked. Clean rooms are fascinating places that looks intimidating: everyone is fully covered in protective gear, and nobody talks much. Concentration levels are VERY high! and safety concerns of staff for tissue retraction are well documented. Self-retaining retractors are lightweight, gentle on the patient's tissue, and last for as long as they need to without getting tired or needing to shift position. They are adaptable to almost any surgery and come with a range of different hooks and accessories. Modern ring retractors have safety cam locks that cannot break off instead of screws and use new materials that are strong, yet weigh only 62g – a big benefit from an environmental perspective. Packaging The Galaxy II retractor is then packaged into Tyvek bags and sent to Steris for sterilisation. Step 3: During surgery John Radcliffe in Oxford calculated their theatre waste: Ÿ Clinical waste/list = 6.15kg/list Ÿ Recycled waste/list = 1.74kg/list The retractor is placed above the incision, fastened with small skin hooks, and then removed once the procedure is complete. It is discarded into clinical waste together with approximately 6kg of other waste and managed as per the hospitals waste management policy. Surgical retractors like Galaxy II is used in a range of procedures, and over 10,000 self-retaining ring retractors are used in the UK every year. It is a surgical instrument used to separate and manipulate the edges of a surgical incision or wound or to hold back underlying organs and tissues so that body parts underneath may be accessed. Benefits: reduced need for staff, improved working environment, better access to surgical site, less crowded operation room, always sterile and available. Downside: Single use plastic. in the generation of ash residue. Incinerated materials containing or treated with chlorine can generate dioxins and furans, which are human carcinogens and have been associated with a range of adverse health effects. Incineration of heavy metals or materials with high metal content (in particular lead, mercury and cadmium) can lead to the spread of toxic metals in the environment. waste from clinical areas was disposed of via orange clinical waste bags. There are now recycling bins in every anaesthetic room of the three largest operating suites, as well as in recovery and staff rest areas. Waste segregation has become routine for many members of staff, and approximately 22% of theatre waste is now recycled. Decades of work to reduce single-use plastic has resulted in much leaner and less wasteful hospitals, but there is more to be done. Understanding what aspects of medical surgical devices are necessary (for example, those that cannot be safely or cost-effectively reprocessed) is a step in the right direction for environmentally aware hospital staff. However, modern incinerators operating at 850-1100 °C and fitted with special gas-cleaning equipment and comply with the international emission standards for dioxins and furans. Clinical waste is divided into different types, depending on the nature of the waste. For example, it is really important to separate highly-infectious, infectious and non-infectious waste. Waste incineration has improved so much in the last few years that the focus is shifting to other places in the chain to innovate for a greener alternative. In addition, with the progress made in modern manufacturing materials and processes, the better Innovation from an environmental perspective is to create products using materials that "burn better", weigh less and produce less output to offset. Highly-infectious materials are treated separately in High Temperature Energy Recovery Incineration Facilities with such as Grundon. Infectious waste is sent to Alternative Treatment facility where it is rendered safe through a unique steam treating process. Angela Spang is a Swedish born medical device innovator. She lives in the UK and has won numerous awards, most notably The Queens Award 2021 for Innovation for her GalaxyII surgical retractor. Highly-infectious materials, sharps bins, pharmaceutical, cytotoxic/cytostatic medicines, and anatomical waste will be sent to High Temperature Energy Recovery Incineration facility. Not only does this divert waste from landfill, but the steam created is used to power a steam turbine to generate electricity. Offensive waste (also known as non-infectious waste) can be sent to special Energy from Waste facilities, ensuring zero waste to landfill and generating renewable electricity for export to the National Grid. The output of gas from the burning of clinical waste is Step 5: Where can surgical staff now make the biggest impact? Waste separation in the operating theatre is hugely impactful Oxford University Hospitals Trust has reduced the amount of waste going to landfill or incineration by introducing recycling into the operating theatre setting. What challenges did you face and how you turn them into opportunities for growth? The most challenging part was the lack of readiness among females to spend time and money on their physical health. Most of the females believe that as they have gone through pregnancy and delivery they have to live with some pains in their life. In your opinion, does the healthcare system need to focus on improving physiotherapy measures for the patients? What sets the clinic apart from others in the industry? To break this myth, I've designed therapy sessions in such a way that it has not only helped them but they have also started contributing to help other fellow females with similar mindsets and problems too. I strongly believe if you make a family woman physically and mentally fit, you make the whole family strong. Physiotherapists have a vast role to play in the healthcare system. The role of physiotherapy is not restricted to acute injuries and surgeries but also to the improvement of chronic conditions like Paralysis, Parkinson's, Asthma, Spinal pains, vertigo, etc. What advice would you like to give to budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts who desire to venture into the sector? It is very useful in keeping your body fit during and after pregnancy. Physiotherapists have a major contribution, to making children with physical disabilities, functionally independent. They also gradually make people fit and functional with hand and leg prosthetics. Physiotherapy is a field that demands a lot of physical and mental effort."Be empathetic towards your clients" are the keywords of my professors and have helped me so far. I would say the same thing to young entrepreneurs. Don't work only for your monetary benefits but work for the betterment of your patient's health and you will achieve everything you dream for.
