  1. Pest control may require more than one treatment Spring happens to be a wonderful season for many. We have migratory birds returning and flowers blooming. We are exposed to more hours of sunlight and this allows us to enjoy the warmth. However, along with these exotic experiences, there is an issue waiting to be addressed.

  2. Pests wait for spring to strike again When fall ends, pests, especially ants do not die out. They rather enter into hibernation in their nests throughout the winter until spring comes. Most of these ants would be dying during winter but some manage to survive. These few ants are capable of initiating new colonies. Ants start moving out from March and April. Since, there still happens to be cold outside, these pests would be invading warm homes in their quest to find food and water.

  3. Month of May signals the invasion of homes Since its May now, the probability that ants would be resting in your home is higher. They can be found under slabs and in cracks. The most dangerous forms of ants are the carpenter ants that happen to be just below termites. They are known for setting up nests around sources of food. This implies that if there is even one nest in your house, then there would be dozens of other nests nearby. However, you need to be extra careful. Never make the mistake of either ignoring them or treating them yourself.

  4. Pests will start multiplying this month So now is the right time for all homeowners to concentrate their efforts on pest control. The common pests that affect households are Pavement ants, Carpenter Ants, Springtails, Termites, Millipedes, Centipedes, and Earwigs Sow Bugs. This is the time when they would be multiplying in number. In some of the cases, this multiplication will result in an expansion into a habitat. Homes are especially vulnerable to Ant colonies. This leads to troublesome infections.

  5. Reasons why One Treatment will not be effective Though treatment is the best way out to address this problem, yet one treatment would not be working. The reasons have been discussed here. Pesticides have a short life-span The pesticides that are used in homes to kill the pests have a short residual life. This is because they would be breaking down soon and this will render them ineffective within a short period of time. This period usually lasts 1-2 months. Once the material is ineffective, the pests can enter your homes once again. One treatment may kill a significant number of pests but some may survive to lay eggs again and again.

  6. Trails When the pests are able to locate a source of food or ware, they will return to the nest and leave a trail behind that will direct the other pests to the source of food or water. In the case of ants, these trails are known as pheromone trails. Such trails can last longer than the effect of the pesticide. Once the effect of the pesticides is over, these ants will follow the trail once again. Nests survive first treatment It is never an easy task to find all the nests. There are various clues that do point towards the nests but usually some nests manage to survive the first treatment. To be more effective, more than one treatment is necessary.
