The Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train visits nineteen destinations across various Indian states. The trip lasts for eight days and runs on pre-selected dates from the months of September to March. Here is a brief outline of the trip: Day 1: The journey will start from Delhi, at Safdarjung Railway Station, from where the train will proceed to Gaya. Day 2: Train proceeds to Bodhgaya. Tourists will go on Bodhgaya Buddhist Tour, they will visit Buddha Temple Bodhgaya. Sightseeing on the Bodhgaya pilgrimage includes visiting the Mahabodhi Temple, Niranjana Temple, Thai temple, Japanese Temple and Buddha Statue. Day 3: Places covered include Gaya, Nalanda, Rajgir, and Varanasi. Sightseeing at Rajagiri includes the Bimbisara Jail, Gridhakuta Hill and Venuvan. After arriving at Nalanda you will see the ruins of Nalanda University and Nalanda Museum. Next, the train will proceed to Gaya Railway Station and board the train to Varanasi. Day 4: Train will go to Varanasi, Sarnath, and Nautanwa. Sarnath is 10 kms from Varanasi, the Buddhist pilgrimage tourism sightseeing spots at Sarnath are Dhameth Stupa, Sarnath Museum, Ashokan Pillar and Mulgandha. The coach will return to Varanasi, tourists will get to witness the infamous Ganga aarti before proceeding to Nautanwa. Day 5: From Nautanwa passengers will proceed to Lumbini, Nepal. Sightseeing includes the Maya Devi Temple and the Ashokan Pillar. For this part of the journey, tourists are requested to keep their visa and passport ready. In case they do not have a visa, they should keep the visa fees ready along with a few passport size photographs. Indian Nationals are requested to keep any government-issued photo identity(passport, PAN card, driver’s license, etc).
Day 6: Buddhist Circuit Train will visit Lumbini, Kushinagar, and Gorakhpur. Passengers shall be taken to Kushinagar by coach. The sightseeing points include the Mahaparinirvana Temple, Rambhar Stupa, and Mata Kutir Temple. Departing to Gorakhpur from here the trail will depart to Balrampur. Day 7: Places to be visited are Balrampur, Sravasti, and Agra. On arrival at Balrampur, the passengers will be served early morning tea on board. This will be followed by departure to Sravasti, sightseeing of Jetavana Vihara, Pakki Tuli and Sehat Mahet. Proceed to Balrampur Railway Station after lunch at the hotel. Dinner shall be served on board. All onboard menus are pre- planned. Day 8: Early morning arrival at Agra Railway Station. After a break, the passengers will be escorted to the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. After sightseeing, visitors shall board the train from Agra to Delhi. The Buddhist pilgrimage Train Circuit ends at Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi. There are three price package tiers; AC First Class, AC- 2 Tier and AC First Coupe. The Buddhist Circuit Train includes sightseeing charges, accommodation, and meals as per the itinerary, tour escorts, air-conditioned train travel, all hotel bookings according to the itinerary and travel insurance. The package price does not include visa fees (for India and Nepal), fees for the camera (stills and video) at monuments, hotel stay in Delhi before and after the trip and any other services not mentioned in the package price.
