With the work environment becoming more and more complex, it is very important to offer the right information and data to the workers so that it is easier to find both information and expertise when it is needed.   3. Here in this piece of writing let’s have a view of the evolution of SharePoint year wise. Initially with the launch of Microsoft SharePoint in the year 2001, it was just the go to platform of various businesses to complete a wide range of tasks from the company intranet to developing the entire websites or custom systems.   4. 2001: Before SharePoint came to the market, Microsoft sold various products for server management. In 2001, SharePoint was launched as a new management tool that had integrated various functionalities from several products into a single platform. It began as a shared document management application and slowly grew to become a portal solution.   5. 2003: In this year, Microsoft released a new version, Office 2003 which included the latest version of SharePoint, which was rebranded as Windows SharePoint Services. The version provided a collaboration store, search functions, improved management and taxonomy and the ability to personalize the product.
