  1. 5 things to expect at your Chiropractic visit for your back pain

  2. Understandably, most patients do not know what to expect from a visit to a chiropractor. You could be thinking that you are just getting a few massages and or exercise sequences to help you ease the pain, and you’ll be as good as new. However, a visit to the chiropractor involves a lot more than that. Chiropractors treat back pain in various ways; however, most of them focus on the spine to offer relief to patients. Here’s what to expect from the chiropractor.

  3. Evaluation Unlike a general physician who diagnoses you and decides whether to put you on medication or not, a chiropractor for back pain performs a functional exam to evaluate your condition which is performed on the first visit.

  4. Treatment Approach Where a general physician might prescribe some medication, a chiropractor will develop a treatment plan that might include soft tissue treatment and a variety of exercises to expedite your healing. These treatment plans might include a few visits or several visits depending on your condition. Sticking to your treatment plan is crucial if you want to get better.

  5. You will feel some pressure Your chiropractor may need to apply a bit of pressure on some crucial parts of your back to realign your spine. They might use their hands and limbs to apply low pressure in some places or a unique instrument for abrupt pressure in other regions. Most patients involuntarily stiffen during this procedure, thinking it might hurt, but the truth is that the adjustment procedure is painless.

  6. Back chiropractic care involves needling sometimes Chiropractors might sometimes use other treatments such as dry needling acupuncture to aid in your treatment. The practitioner inserts short sterile filament in your back to stimulate and trigger acupoints. These points are usually also trigger points, and inserting the filament in those point will help in releasing tension and pain.

  7. It might get worse before it gets better Back treatments can be intensive. For this reason, after the first visit, you might feel more discomfort, but it goes away afterward. This initial pain gives some patients the notion that chiropractors tend to make the pain worse. However, if you stick with the plan and continue with the appointments, you’ll discover it gets better. Should you feel pain and discomfort during treatment, share it with your chiropractor. They can help you differentiate, whether it’s because of the treatment or something else.
