What is an Adoption? Adoption is a legal process by which an adult or adults assume the legal responsibilities for raising a minor by becoming the minor's parents. Legally recognized adoptions require a court or some other government agency to reward the adults with permanent custody of the child to the adoptive parents.
There are specific requirements for adoption and they vary from one state to the next and from one country to the next. They might be arranged through individuals or agencies, and may involve a single child or siblings, who may range in age from infants to older children. Adoptive parents are most often traditional married couples, and they can also be single men or women or non-traditional couples.
How an Informal Adoption Occurs? In some cases adoptions occur outside of legal arrangements. Such informal adoptions most often happen when a relative or a stepparent assumes the permanent parental responsibilities for a child, without the courts getting involved. And in other cases, adoptive parents might take in a young person who is adrift in society for reasons beyond his or her control, and raise them as their own.
