Taking care of teeth and the oral cavity has today become an important part of our daily life. • There are many aspects of oral health care that people have to become familiar with in order to take better care of their teeth. • Let us look at two major issues or confusing terms that people usually misunderstand or don’t understand at all.
The greatest enemy of teeth and what leads to decay is plaque. • What exactly is this? Plaque is a film of bacteria that is constantly being formed and covers the teeth. • It is sticky and colourless. • The combination of saliva, food and fluids is what leads to plaque build-up. • It usually builds-up at the point where the teeth meet the gums and also on the teeth.
