Closed POD PlanningSWOT Analysis • Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) Objective: • To discuss strategies to help public health establish partnership opportunities with various sectors within the community to support Closed POD planning • By understanding major similarities and differences in what is important to various sectors, public health planners can tailor Closed POD recruiting messages and refine technical assistance methods appropriately • Presentation includes: • Results of the SWOT analysis conducted during the 2009 Public Health Preparedness Summit in San Diego, CA • Tools to assist state/local public health agencies conduct a SWOT analysis with an emphasis on Closed POD planning

Closed POD PlanningSWOT Analysis • Community Based Organizations • Faith Based Organizations • Private Industry • Federal Agencies • Colleges/Universities 2009 Public Health Preparedness Summit: • Interactive session involving 60+ participants from state and local public health departments. • Participants were divided into 5 of the most common sectors participating as Closed PODs across the country and conducted a SWOT analysis of that particular sector.

Consider the following: • Technology • Legislation • Socio-cultural • How can you capitalize on previous relationships that may be established between other programs in your health department and organizations within the various sectors?
