Servicing a home refrigerator in Brisbane (or anywhere) must start with an assessment of what the problem is that requires servicing. Refrigerators need servicing from time to time due to age and usage. Before you contact a refrigerator service provider, try to determine the cause of the fault and in doing so you may be able to fix it without the need of a service call. The Troubleshooting Guide below presents common refrigerator problems or faults and their common fixes. Troubleshooting Guide... Common refrigerator problems and their “quick fix” solutions are:
Freezer compartment is too warm. • See if the thermostat for the freezer compartment has been altered. The freezer compartment should be set at -8C to -6C. If the thermostat is moved to a different temperature, allow 24-hours to pass to determine if you have fixed the problem.
Ice-maker has a big block of ice; it is preventing ice cubes from being made or dropping. • Remove the ice-maker container from the refrigerator. You may have to shut off the refrigerator and let it melt until the container can be removed without breaking it. Allow the container to drain in a kitchen sink or outside where the water can be drained without damage to something else. Replace the container once the ice has been removed. Low usage of ice cubes coupled with the defrosting cycle periodically slightly melting the ice cubes are the cause of this common problem.
Cold storage (not freezer) is too warm. • See if the thermostat for the cold storage compartment has been altered. The cold storage compartment should be set at 4C to 6C. If the thermostat is moved to a different temperature, allow 24-hours to pass to determine if you have fixed the problem. • The light in the freezer or cold storage compartments remains off when the door is open. • The bulb is probably burned out. Replace the bulb with a “severe” service bulb of the wattage recommended by the appliance’s manufacturer. fridge mechanic Brisbane
Ice cubes are not being made when the compartment for them is empty. • There is a lever or similar sensor that turns on the ice-maker when it senses the compartment is almost empty. Sometimes this sensor quits working or more likely the sensor is stuck by ice forming around it. This problem can be fixed by cleaning the sensor on both sides of the compartment with warm water to remove frost/ice from the sensor and/or its corresponding target.
The change water filter light is on. • Obtain the correct filter and change it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Water filters require changing periodically based on the amount of usage. • Refrigerator is completely warm, both compartments, and the light remains off when the door is opened. • Check to see if the refrigerator is plugged in to the outlet. If it is, see if the breaker has been tripped. If resetting the breaker does not provide power, then you need to contact the appliance repairs Brisbane or fridge repairs Brisbane firm.
