(rating: from excellent to “not so good”…) • On students • Follow-up (needs a more rigorous statistical analysis) • Guidelines from SEI’s reports on software training • Has it been useful? • To students: hopefully… • To Geant4: yes, powerful PR instrument! • To Geant4 trainers: yes • To Geant4 developers: yes in most cases, serious problems in other cases

  5. For the future • New guidelines discussed in the special workshop on collaboration reorganization, July 2006 • In practice?

Food for thought • Planning courses • Dates, locations, type of course, announcements, training team, course material • Advance planning useful to users and developers • Sharing the honour and effort of giving lectures • A more collaborative and transparent attitude would be beneficial to a more pleasant atmosphere in the collaboration • Up-to-date training material • Supported by the whole collaboration • Competent trainers • No one has in-depth expertise on all Geant4 domains and APPLICATIONS • Matching trainers’ competences to students’ background • Involvement of young Geant4 developers • Often better placed to interact with the majority of students (of the same age) • Cooperation, transparency and fairness are beneficial • In training like in other Geant4 domains • Internal competition and politically-driven decisions are harmful • In training like in other Geant4 domains

  7. Parallel session: Public Relations • Geant4 web • Training • Conferences • Many important topics squeezed in ~1 hour only • Still better than nothing…
