Using SDReaderCE To manually enter reads, type in the reads on the handheld’s number pad and hit enter This will send the reading into the database and progress to the next customer
Using SDReaderCE SDReaderCE has the ability to do so much more than visual reading It can read touch and radio meters To configure the AMR settings, click on the Options Button This will bring up the options window Click on AMR Options which brings up the AMR Options menu Click Enable AMR. This enables the AMR Device and Set AMR Background options Click on AMR Device

Using SDReaderCE Another useful feature of the SDReaderCE system is the searching function Searches are based on the selected access keys To switch access keys, simply press Ctrl + A, or hit the circle with the stylus Searches can be performed on Route Sequence Number On Customer Name On Location And on Meter ID
Using SDReaderCE To start the search, Click on the Search button The search is being conducted on the Route Sequence Key in this example A dialog box will appear with a place to enter in the Route Sequence Key to be found Enter the desired Route Sequence number (0100010 in this instance) and press Go The screen will show the account with the corresponding Route Sequence number
Using SDReaderCE SDReaderCE allows for communication between the billing administration and meter readers Messages to the meter reader are always visible in the message box Notes to the billing administration by the meter reader are made by clicking the Attach Note button The Attach Note window will pop up Type in the note or choose a canned note from the Select From List option Click Save to save the note
Using SDReaderCE SDReaderCE also allows the reader to only view accounts that have not been read Simply click the Unreads button to view only unread meter accounts
Using SDReaderCE The most exciting feature of the SDReaderCE program is its mapping capabilities To view the map, click on the mapping button As the meter reader progresses through the route, the meter points disappear as they are read The meter reader can see the details of each account represented on the map by circling its dot with the stylus A Dialog will pop up giving the address of the selected account Press Go to go to the account information page
Using SDReaderCE If any shortcuts are forgotten or any help is needed, a list of features and shortcuts is available through the options menu Select Hot Keys in the dropdown menu The list of features and their shortcuts comes up Press any key to escape back to the program
Using SDReaderCE When replacing a meter in the field, enter the old meters reading as normal and then click the options button and highlight Meter Change Out when the account to be changed is on the screen The Meter Change Out form will pop up Enter the new meter ID and the new meter’s reading If applicable, enter the GPS coordinates or get them from the Bluetooth receiver Choose Save to save the meter change out information

Using SDReaderCE The location of meter points on the map can be re-assigned with the coordinates on the GPS Receiver To re-assign the meter point on the map, stand over the meter and press CTRL + G while showing the account that you want to re-plot. In this case it is Linnie Hart The mapping icon will change to green and red and the letters GPS will appear to the right of the route sequence number to show that the GPS coordinates have been re-plotted GPS
Smart Phone SDReaderCE is not confined to handheld computers, it is also operational on Windows Mobile smart phones The functionality is exactly the same with a few additions

Smart Phone On the smart phone, click the information button and select Manage Web Routes Choose Get Web Routes to download the route into the smart phone Select the appropriate route from the left column Once selected, the route name will move to the right column Click Download to copy the route to the phone The downloaded route will then be ready to commence with reading When finished reading the route, click the information button and select Post Web Route This will automatically upload the route to the internet Routes can be downloaded for free of charge at any wifi hotspot or anywhere at all with a paid data connection from any cell phone company that provides Windows Mobile smartphones
Smart Phone The GPS coordinate plotting has also gained more functionality that is only available on devices running Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher The Low Performance GPS (LPGPS) functionality remains unchanged LPGPS functionality is included in the basic package and has an accuracy to within 10 - 15 meters The only extra needed is a Bluetooth receiver to connect to the GPS satellites
Smart Phone For High Performance GPS (HPGPS), SDReaderCE utilizes the Trimble system The Trimble receiver and libraries can receive and calculate meter points with real time sub-meter accuracy With post processing, the plotted points will be accurate to within 4 inches This accuracy is achieved by a combination of multiple satellite technology and advanced algorithms that calculate the satellite information that is received The receiver (pictured below to the right) is powered by a replaceable, rechargeable battery that lasts a whole day on a full charge As with the LPGPS, the points are plotted on a map custom made by SDI
