Your name does not define or describe you. Who are you?
E N D
Many believe the lies. “You are what you look like.” “You are a victim of circumstances.” You are a reject Nobody loves you You are not worthy of anything, “You are a loser.” You are a failure You will never make it in life,
Our beliefs about ourselves determine our behavior. If we see ourselves as a loser, we end up to a large degree acting like a loser. If we see ourselves as a victim, we tend to let people victimize us. If we see ourselves as a piece of junk, we begin to think that we are garbage. If we see ourselves as successful then we tend to repeat successes that we've had in the past.
We need to look at ourselves from a different perspective. We need to hear from an informed and authorized source. God is the authority on who we are. He is our Creator. He gives us the correct information. He is the one we should be listening to about who we are
Psalm 139 1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.3 You discern my going out and my lying down;you are familiar with all my ways.4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,too lofty for me to attain
1 Peter 2:9-10 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
13 For you created my inmost being;you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!How vast is the sum of them!18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you.
You are acceptable (! Pet 2v. 9, "a chosen race“) "You are the ones chosen by God . . . from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted" We spend our entire lives trying to earn acceptance. We seek it from our parents, peers, partners. We seek acceptance from the people we respect and the people we envy. Our desire to be accepted influences our behavior, thought, the kind of clothes we wear, the friends we choose, and even the career we choose.
We are so driven by acceptance? We love to know that someone has chosen and accepted us. When you are chosen, accepted, it raises your self-esteem. God accepts us as we are. even with our disabilities, character flaws, shortcomings, insecurities, and immaturity, He invites us home. No conditions. Nor restrictions. He chooses us for his team.
You are valuable (1Pet 2 v. 9, "a people for His possession") "You have been bought and paid for by Christ, so you belong to him" (1 Cor. 7:23 NIV). Christ owns you and paid for you with his life. God exchanged his own Son for you. The cross proves your value. God says I love you this much. Jesus gave his life for you. And Jesus didn't die for unwanted items.
You are precious and God thinks of you What are God’s thought of us? Jeremiah tells us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV).
You are loved and God cares for you! "Do not fear, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak. The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with loud singing as on a day of festival.” Zephaniah 3:16-18 (RSV).
You are a child of God and forgivable God is in the business of forgiving sin Isaiah 1:18“‘Come now, let us settle the matter,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.’” When we come to Christ our sins are wiped out. We will not be held accountable for them. They are forgotten. Erased. Treated as though they never existed.
I am a child of God I am precious I am worthy I am loved I am victorious I am disciplined I am successful I am beautifully and wonderfully made I am Who God says I am
