Jonathan Ortecho | Tips on Cleaning Your Swimming Pool Jonathan Ortecho - It is very important to get your swimming pool cleaned regularly. It ensures the comfort and safety of swimmers. Water having floating debris invites algae and bacteria to breed on it. Cleaning swimming pools once a week restricts such unwanted growths. Cleaning a pool is fairly simple. All it takes is some initiative to carry out the process. Here are some important concepts by Jonathan Ortecho to help you determine when and how a pool needs to be cleaned. Balance of water To maintain the balance of water, three factors have to be taken into account. These are calcium hardness, alkaline content, and pH level.
These factors affect each other. Another thing to note here is that a pool's filter needs to be turned on before a chemical is added to water. Determine water hardness To measure the hardness of water, a water testing kit can be employed. If the water hardness is more than the desired level, sodium hexametaphosphate can be applied to lower it. In case water hardness is less, calcium carbonate dehydrate is ideal to raise it. Chemicals should be poured carefully at various parts of the pool and not concentrated at a particular zone. Before applying these chemicals to swimming pool water, look through the instructions of the water testing kit.
Determine alkalinity of water It is advisable to check the alkalinity of water from time to time. The ideal figure should be between a range of 80 and 150 ppm. It is best if the alkalinity ranges between 100 and 120 ppm. In case the alkalinity is lower or higher than the desired level, chemicals can be used to adjust it. The application of sodium bisulfate lowers the alkaline level while sodium bicarbonate is used to raise it. Maintain the pH level According to Jonathan Ortecho, Maintaining the pH level of swimming pools is a key way to do away with bacterial growth in them. A pH tester can be used to measure the pH level of pool water. The ideal
pH level is between 7.2 and 7.6. In case, the pH level is lower than the standard measure, sodium carbonate should be added to water. Liquid muriatic acid is apt for lowering the pH level of water. Use chlorine to clean pool water Chlorine works well to keep pool water clean. For pools on heavy use, chlorine should be added thrice or four times a week. In case there is bacterial growth in a pool, a super chlorination solution can be added to it. This solution is much stronger than normal chlorine and kills bacteria effectively. For best results, add chlorine to pool water after sunset. Remove debris before entering the pool
Make sure that a swimming pool is free of debris every time you use it. Visible debris can be removed by using a net. You can also use covers to put away debris from setting in swimming pools. Jonathan Ortecho says vacuum heads are also efficient pool cleaning equipment. These help to free swimming pools from leaves, debris, and other wastes.
