  2. Adding and Subtracting fractions with common Denominators BIG TEXT Step 1: Add or Subtract the numerator, put the answer over the Denominator. Step 2:Keep the Denominators the same. Step 3:Simplify the fraction if possible.

  4. Adding and Subtracting fractions with unlike Denominators When adding or subtracting fractions the Denominator must be the same. You can use different methods to do this. Such as: Butterfly method Step 1: Multiply the Denominators together to get the new Denominator. Step 2: Cross multiply the Denominator of each fraction with the Numerator of the next. Step 3: Add or subtract the product of the cross multiplication to get the new numerator.

  6. You need to be able to multiply and divide Algebraic Fractions DIARY DIARY The rules for Alegebraic versions are the same as the numerical version. When multiplying fractions, you multiply the Numerator together,and the Denominator together. It is possible to simplify a sum before you work it out. This will be vital on harder Algebraic questions.
