About NASTAD • NASTAD represents the nation’s chief health agency HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis staff in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the U.S. Pacific Islands who have programmatic responsibility for administering HIV/AID and viral hepatitis prevention, education, care and treatment and supportive services programs funded by states and the federal government. • Provides national leadership on HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis policy and programs • Educates about and advocates for necessary federal funding
NASTAD’s Prevention Program • NASTAD’s prevention program includes a focus on HIV, viral hepatitis and STD. • NASTAD’s works with all CDC-funded HIV and viral hepatitis prevention programs, including directly-funded cities. • Scope includes: • Facilitating communication between CDC and HIV and viral hepatitis prevention programs • Providing technical assistance and support to HIV prevention and viral hepatitis programs
NASTAD’s Prevention Program • Areas of focus for HIV prevention (and VH, where possible) include: • Surveillance • Effective programs and interventions • Health department cooperative agreement management • Community planning • Monitoring and evaluation • Special populations • Case finding • Testing • Partner services • Prevention and care integration / Prevention with positives • Racial and ethnic health disparities • Youth
