Plastic Drainage and Geocomposite Drainage Systems – Best Of The Rest www.aquafab.co.uk
In the earlier times drainage pipes made of cast iron, lead, bronze or galvanized iron were used for drainage or water supply. But, times have changed and the material that has almost replaced by plastic pipes on account of the various benefits they have as compared to the pipes made out of other material. There are two kinds of plastic pipes. They are PVC and CPVC (Polyvinyl chloride and chlorinated polyvinyl chloride). The PVC pipes are used for constructing drainage systems, for vents as well as cold water supply while CPVC are used for supplying hot water. Here is a run down some of the features of plastic drainage pipes over other pipes.
No Corrosion – As we all know pipes made of CI or GI or lead or any other metal are prone to corrosion. The biggest advantage of plastic drainage pipes is they are corrosion resistant. When pipes corrode, leaks occur and this leads to either repair of the pipes, which is a costly affair or even replacement of the pipes. Moreover, corroded metal pipes contaminate the waters if used for water supply and harm the health of the people. When used in drainage systems, they cause contamination of the soil also. Plastic pipes are so safe compared to pipes of made from other metals that they are approved for carrying water.
