Why a Recreation League? • The league is meant to introduce players to Hockey at an introductory price, while allowing them to still participate in other activities (such as church, snow-boarding,Scouts, etc). • Another benefit to lower cost league would be to stop shrinkage from the Squirt level to PeWees that is 5% (we retain 95% and lose 5%). However, the shrinkage from PeeWees to Bantams is 18% (we retain a much smaller 82% of players going from Peewees to Bantams). The idea is to create right product to keep these players. • MH will also strive to attract new cultures to our sport that are have issues to contend with the cost of our sport being one of the largest. • Another Key issue that the Recreation Committee is getting major feedback on is the current Economy. There are many Association Presidents worried that they will lose registration numbers this year due to the high cost of Hockey and the current Recession that has caused enormous company layoffs (A family of 3 Skaters could cost as much as $5,000.00 per year)
League Management • The league would be Overseen by MH Directors. They would appoint a League Manager to each area, they would work in conjunction with the appropriate Directors for league support(ie scheduling ice, league standings, colleting fee’s etc) • At the Association level it would be mandatory that the Association publish the program on the registration forms with costs and put program on their web sites. • Bantam A $COST PER YEAR • Bantam B $COST PER YEAR • Bantam C $COST PER YEAR • Bantam Rec $COST PER YEAR • MH is currently looking at a maximum cap on what a team could charge a player for additional costs. • Key areas in D6 that MH would target would be Bloomington, Burnsville, Eden Prairie (others to come) for cultural growth in the sport of Hockey (Marketing program underway)
