2. Born in a small village in Uttar Pradesh, India, Manjusha spent her childhood in a small mud house with her grandmother, parents, sister, and brother. Her father barely earned USD 50 monthly for the whole family. Manjusha always dreamed of being able to help her family live better and had a sincere desire to gain an education that would lead to this objective. After completing her primary education at a local village school, she enrolled in Kripalu Balika Inter-College (KBIC) as a 6 grade student. As a sincere and hardworking student, Manjusha did very well in her studies and graduated at the top of her class. She secured over 90% in both her 12th State Board Exams. Wanting to further her education and in light of her family’s financial limitations, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program (BA) at Kripalu Mahila Mahavidyalaya (KMM) which also offers free high-quality education. Obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree brought her one step closer to her dreams. After completing her studies at KMM, she applied for the position of woman constable in the Indian Police force and was successfully selected. Manjusha has said that she owes her education and success to KBIC and KMM as her father would not have been able to afford her education.
