Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Fans of the iconic Godzilla films can look forward to the latest upcoming release of the movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters. This film features all the giant creatures that have gone against this titular behemoth in previous years. Legendary Pictures have already released their final trailer for the film towards the end of April, which will hit the theaters towards the end of May. The preview contains extensive footage of these monsters that Godzilla will go up against or possibly ally with. Michael Dougherty the director of Godzilla: King of the Monsters has followed in the efforts associated with the mystical crypto-zoological agency Monarch that is featured in Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island in their efforts to keep humans safe against a variety of giant creature that battles it out to earn supremacy. In addition to the return of the gigantic Godzilla, the storyline has pitted this iconic creature against new threats. These monsters include Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, the 3-headed dragon. The human cast in this Legendary Pictures film is inclusive of: • • • • • • • • • • Ken Watanabe who starred in The Last Samurai and featured in the 2014 Godzilla film Sally Hawkins who also starred in the 2014 Godzilla film Vera Farmiga who starred in Up in the Air Kyle Chandler who starred in Friday Night Lights Thomas Middleditch who starred in Silicon Valley Bradley Whitford who starred in Get Out Charles Dance from the iconic series, Game of Thrones Aisha Hinds from Star Trek Into Darkness O’Shea Jackson Jr. who starred in Straight Outta Compton Zhang Ziyi who is better known for his roles in Hidden Dragon and Crouching Tiger The Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, who also appears in the hit Netflix series as the telekinetic Eleven, has made her own feature film-debut in this latest Godzilla film. The latest Godzilla film begins from the aftermath of Godzilla, along with 2017’s Kong: Skull Island that was actually set a number of years before Godzilla. This movie should be the starting point for a wider world of the giant monster movies which also includes a battle that plays out between Godzilla and King Kong along with other monsters from the stable of Toho Studios. The movie Godzilla Vs. Kong is scheduled currently to be
released in 2020. When accounting for all the films made before, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will become the 35th feature-length movie that is based on this character. The 2014 Godzilla movie by Gareth Edwards, managed to do what the 1998 version produced by Roland Emmerich’s failed to do. This involved successfully rebooting this iconic franchise along with the greatest monsters for American audiences. In addition to that, along with Kong: Skull Island 3 years later, it went onto launch MonsterVerse, a universe shared by giant creatures which were inspired from the King Kong mythos along with the 60-year-old Toho Studios repertoire. This was soon followed by the announcement of Godzilla 2, which has emerged eventually as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The name of this film is actually referenced from the Americanized title from the first film in the Toho canon, 1954’s Gojira. Zach Shields and Michael Dougherty who worked together recently on Krampus wrote the script. Since both the movies Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters are the build-up to Godzilla Vs. Kong set to be released in 2020, Shields and Dougherty have both become members of the writer's room for giants paving the future for MonsterVerse. Yet, Dougherty is not just responsible for writing the sequel; he is also the director of Godzilla: King of the Monsters after Mr. Edwards departed. This seems to be favorable news as Dougherty, also directed and wrote a cult Halloween classic Trick ‘r Treat and also co-wrote Superman Returns and X2: X-Men United. There is one thing that is certain when it comes to all of this is that while the 2014 Godzilla was largely criticized because the large green lizard was mainly offscreen when it came to the 1st half of the movie, this is a sequel that learned from the previous mistakes. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will release on the 31 May 2019 in 2D and 3D theaters, along with select IMAX theaters.
