Where is Pakistan? Pakistan is a country in South Asia, with a population of 160 million people. Pakistan is prone to natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods, landslides and droughts.
At the end of July, rains caused the worst flooding in Pakistan in 90 years. Water washed away thousands of homes, local businesses and schools.
Sajjad’s* Story • Sajjad is 14 years old and lived with his family in Bahrain city • His father is a schoolteacher and owns an apple farm • Their home and farm were destroyed by floods in a single day • Sajjad lost all his books, clothes, and toys. • He and his father are staying with an uncle, but there is not enough food and water for everyone. * His name has been changed for protection
In just a month, Save the Children has reached over 305,000 people through emergency medical care and the distribution of tents, shelter kits, hygiene kits, food and other supplies. But there are millions more who need help, now and in the weeks to come.
What We’re Doing Now: Food 1,098 tonnes of food have been distributed to 15,908 families in the most affected regions.
What We’re Doing Now: Shelter • We’re one of the only aid agencies able to reach some of the remotest areas of Pakistan • Hundreds of tents, hygiene kits, water purification sachets, blankets and water buckets have been distributed to families around the country.
What We’re Doing Now: Health • We’re using helicopters, donkeys and boats to deliver doctors and medical supplies to families cut off by the water. • We’ve treated thousands of patients already as well as distributing hygiene kits, shelter kits with tarpaulins, jerry cans and plastic glasses to flood-affected families.

What your donation could buy • £12 can buy a shelter kit, containing blanket, mat, mosquito net, torch, jerry can and bucket • £25 can buy six insecticide treated bed nets to keep children safe whilst they sleep • £55 can buy enough hygiene kits for 30 children to keep clean and prevent disease • £100 can buy 2 household kits with everything a displaced family of six needs • £200 can buy a child friendly space kit containing toys, building blocks, crayons, dolls, sports equipment.
