1. Is there life after physics?A tale of science, art, and business Dan Johnson Eclectic Studios, Inc Co-Founder and CEO Abstract: Dan Johnson is an alumnus of the Miami U. Physics Department and co-founder of Eclectic Studios Inc., a graphic design and new media agency in Cincinnati, OH. To say a background in physics is rare in the business world is a whopper of an understatement-even more so among creative businesses. So what happens when a young physicist starts a creative design studio? You find that physics, and the tools learned in its study, pop up in unusual and serendipitous places. In his talk he will discuss some of the challenges and similarities between the world of science and running a creative business. Bio: During his time at Miami, Dan minored in Electrical Engineering, was involved in undergraduate research . He served as president of the Society of Physics Students. After graduating in 1996 with a degree in Engineering Physics, he was accepted into the University of Dayton's Electro-Optical Engineering Program. He left after a short while to found Eclectic Studios later that same year. The Studio, now in its 9th year, has a client list that includes Cincinnati Bell, Kroger, Great American Insurance, and Lucent Technology. Wed. Jan. 18th
