  1. The Draw of Muscle Cars With the popularity of films such as, The Fast and The Furious, Deathproof and Vanishing Point, good old classic muscle cars are slowly making their way back into the mainstream spotlight. In fact, there are movies that have immortalized muscle cars and cemented their place in legend. Just take Eleanor, the 1973 Ford Mustang that was featured in the film, Gone in 60 Seconds. This attention is much deserved, of course. After all, these iconic vehicles became a symbol for a generation that enjoyed being free and rebellious even though sometimes to a fault. In this article, our experts at Leland West Insurance take a closer look at some of the most popular of these cars that people still love today.

  2. The 1969 Pontiac GTO -This was designed to appeal more to the younger sector of the market. It had a 6.3 litre V8 engine, which was put into its midsized Tempest shell thus making it pretty darn fast for a relatively cheap car. The marketing tactics were a success as it became immensely popular. It was refitted with a 6.5 litre V8 in 1969 which, needless to say, kicked its competition to the curb. The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro -The Camaro is, perhaps more recognizable to fans of the Transformers franchise as the car that "Bumblebee" transforms into. It came with a 4.9 litre engine, disc brakes on the front as well as a four speed manual gearbox and power steering. The Dodge Challenger -Again, another vehicle that can be recognized for being featured in a film which in this case would be, Vanishing Point. This 1970's beauty was a best seller from the get go. It came with a 7.0 litre Hemi engine that could pump out 425bhp. However, later models pretty much became a downgrade with the 72' version dropping to a weak 240bhp. The Plymouth Barracuda -Launched back in 1964, just a couple of weeks before the Ford Mustang hit the market, it didn't really receive the attention it deserved until the 1970's where its sleek lines and serious under the hood growl caught the attention of young rock and rollers. It came with 7.2 litre engine that could deliver a decent 390bhp. The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS -This muscle car was mounted with a 6.5 litre block that was capable of pushing 375bhp. Now, this power was too much for the vehicle's front end thus making handling pretty horrible. Fortunately, this was

  3. addressed when it underwent a makeover. Disk brakes were added up front to help solve the problem. So there you have it, just 5 of some of the most loved classic muscle cars ever to hit the market.
