  1. The Five Elementsof Fiction

  2. Characters The actors in the story, they can be people, animals or even objects like pencils or robots.

  3. Setting The time, place and location that a story take place.

  4. Point of View The perspective in which a story is told. Most of the time it will be one of the following two choice: First Person- the narrator is part of the story Third Person- the narrator is outside looking in

  5. Theme The hardest of the five elements to grasp. Theme is the main message that The Reader takes away from the story. It can be different to every reader because theme is IMPLIED!!!! It is a little bit like the moral at the end of a fable.

  6. Plot • Plot is the series of events in a story and can be broken down into five parts: -Expostion - Rising Action - Climax - Falling Action - Resolution Plot is always centered around at least one conflict.

  7. Plot • Exposition- Necessary background information about the characters • Rising Action- Events that lead up to the climax • Climax- The highest point of action in the story. Usually has the conflict at it’s peak. • Falling Action- Events that lead from the conflict to it’s resolution • Resolution- The solving of a conflict
