Let’s Read Numbers 14:1 • God’s plan from the creation was to bring his glory to the earth. • First he choose a nation to show it to. • Then he wanted to use this nation to show his glory through. • But the people said no. • Even though God’s Glory had come to them they could not believe it could manifest through them.
Subjective and Objective • Presence is subjective – worship service and everyone does not experience the same thing but it is the beginning of the glory. • Glory is objective – worship service and everyone experiences the same thing • Shift from spiritual impressions to physical manifestations. • The Glory is what happened when the cloud filled Solomon’s temple 2 Chronicles 5. Everyone saw the cloud. Glory became an object of reality in the physical realm.
Subjective and Objective cont. • On the day of Pentecost everyone of the 120 heard the mighty rushing wind and they experienced the dimensions of glory together. • When Glory comes, “all flesh shall see it together” • Isa 40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
The Church was birthed in Glory • In Acts 2 God birthed the church in Glory. • Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. • Not only did the church have his presence but it was created to have the Glory. • Isa 43:7-8 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
His Presence shows us he is pleased with us. • Ex 33:13-16 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people." The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?"
"Now show me your glory." After God shows us he is pleased with us (his presence) then we may ask for him to show us his glory. Ex 33:17-20 And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name." Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory."
The Glory comes in degrees • 2 Cor 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
From Glory to Glory • As we go from repentance to repentance the glory starts returning. • 2 Cor 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
When the Glory Departs • Ezekiel had a vision showing the Glory departing from the temple. We see that it was not a sudden departure but a gradual one. • Let’s read Ezekiel 8:3 • (1- First Place of Glory) Ezek 8:4 And there before me was the glory of the God of Israel, as in the vision I had seen in the plain. • Here we see that the Glory was in its place, in the Holy of Holies above the ark’s mercy seat and cherubim. (today's temple, our hearts)
The Glory will not Cohabitate • Jealousy is the first step of the Glory departing. • Ezek 8:3-4 The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance to the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood. (Jealousy is an image of Baal. Idol worship.) • So begins the departure.
1st Step of departure Jealousy • Because of the jealousy of the people of God the Glory moved from above the cherubim to the threshold of the temple. • (2- Second Place of Glory)Ezek 9:3 Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple.
Then Ezekiel was shown unclean beasts and idols. • Ezek 8:7-13 Then he brought me to the entrance to the court. I looked, and I saw a hole in the wall. He said to me, "Son of man, now dig into the wall." So I dug into the wall and saw a doorway there. And he said to me, "Go in and see the wicked and detestable things they are doing here.“ • Our hearts have a wall around them. We see here a doorway into our hearts.
2nd Step of departureUnclean Hearts • So I went in and looked, and I saw portrayed all over the walls all kinds of crawling things and detestable animals and all the idols of the house of Israel. In front of them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel…. Each had a censer in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising. He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, 'The LORD does not see us;…"
The Glory departed from the threshold to the south side of the temple • ( 3- Third Place of Glory) Ezek 10:3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple … • Ezek 10:18-19 Then the glory of the LORD departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.
3rd Step of departureTemple Prostitution & False gods • Ezek 8:14-15 Then he brought me to the entrance to the north gate of the house of the LORD, and I saw women sitting there, mourning for Tammuz. • TAMMUZ - He was originally a Babylonian sun-god, called Dumuzu, the husband of Ishtar. (The goddess of fertility) The worship of these deities was introduced into Syria. Tammuz was an anti-Christ, a false messiah that ultimately deceived millions.
3rd Step of departureTemple Prostitution & False gods • Ex 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. KJV • Ex 20:23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. KJV • Are possessions or money your god? • Have you quit giving to the church? • The departure continues.
The Glory departed from the cherubim and came to stand “at the east gate” • ( 4- Fourth Place of Glory) Ezek 10:19 While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them. They stopped at the entrance to the east gate of the LORD's house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. • The Glory was one more step further from its rightful place.
4th Step of departure ”devising iniquity and giving wicked counsel” Ezek 11:1-4 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. There at the entrance to the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them … leaders of the people. The LORD said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil and giving wicked advice in this city.
The Glory departed from the east gate and stood on the mountain • ( 5- Fifth Place of Glory) Ezek 11:22-24 Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. The glory of the LORD went up from within the city and stopped above the mountain east of it. (Mount of Olives) • The Glory has now fully departed from the temple and the people of God.
Preparing for the return of “Glory” • The people of God were not ready for God’s glory when Jesus came 2000 years ago. • So God sent John the Baptist ahead of Christ preparing the way. Isaiah described John’s ministry in Isaiah 40:3-5.
Preparing the way • Isa 40:3-5 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
God prepares His people for Glory • He builds a highway in the hearts of his people • He fills in the valleys - he lifts us up • He brings down the high places - pride, arrogance, selfish ambition • He makes the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth. • These are the operations of God upon the heart preparing us for His Glory.
Eyes to see Isa 40:3-5 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Glory comes when there is unity and oneness • 2 Chron 5:13-6:1 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
Glory comes when there is unity and oneness • John 17:20-22 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
God wants to restore His glory upon your life. • Before the glory returned their was made the sin offering, and the burnt sacrifice offering. • It is necessary to confess your sin, and renew your commitment to God. • Confess your sin, renew your consecration, and the glory of God will return to your life.
