Buddhism • Buddhism is the fourth largest religion in the world. • It was founded in northern India by the Buddha, Siddhartha Guatama. • Buddhism was adapted into Japanese culture when prince Shotoku converted to Buddhism.
Beliefs • Buddhists do not believe in a god, instead they follow the example of their role model, the Buddha. • They believe in reincarnation, if you are good in the life that you have, you will have a better life in your next life.
The Buddha’s four noble truths • The Buddha’s four noble truths can be described as: • To be fully understood: the universality of suffering. • To be abandoned: the desire to have and control things which cause suffering. • To be made visible: the mind experiences complete freedom and liberation. • To be brought into being: the truth of the eightfold ariya path leading to the cessation of suffering.
