Highlights • Reliance Jio has been creating ripples since it made its entry into the market. With its aggressive pricing and promise of fast broadband internet, the telecom operator has gone on to become one of the biggest players in the market in the matter of a few years. And now, Jio is attempting to take this forward into the broadband space with the company recently announcing its service, JioFiber. • In the coming months, Jio Fiber's rollout will be carried out ambitiously and the service is scheduled to be rolled out to as many as 1600 cities where it will be extended to 20 million residents within these towns in the next 12 months. • Ahead of its commercial launch, a number of competing players such as BSNL and Airtel had launched new plans to maintain their hold over the market. Earlier in the year, BSNL had revised its Fiber Broadband plans in India. However, it later discontinued its Rs 777 broadband plan.

Bundled with this broadband planare free voice calls, TV video calling, gaming, home networking, and Norton security for up to five devices. The Fibre connectivity provides high-speed broadband from 256 Kbps to 100 Mbps along with it will provide a solution for the IP leased line, internet, Closed User Group (CUG), MPLS-VPN, video conferencing and more. • Customer who opts for this service will get a CPE called Home Optical Network Termination (HONT) consisting of 4X100 Mbps Ethernet ports with two normal telephone ports. • The plan has seen itself relisted on the Bharat Fiber plan list, alongside the new Rs. 849 broadband plan. The company is offering speeds up to 50MBPS with a data allocation of 500GB. The validity of the pack is 30-days. The plan also brings a post-FUP speed of 2MBPS. • This offer has been listed on a promotional basis and will only be available for a period of six months. Post that users will be migrated to the Rs 849 plan from BSNL that brings 600GB data at 50MBPS speed.
Verdict • Reliance Jio and BSNL Bharat Fiber both broadband data plans. • Jio Fiber also gives access to OTT plans but only on the silver plan. But as for other features like gaming and video calling, Jio Fiber definitely has an upper hand. • We highly recommend switching to JioFiber broadband connection.
