  1. Shared Printer Setup and Troubleshooting Services Printer Offline Help can set up your printer to your home computer network. Traditionally, the most common way to make a printer available or printer setup to your home network has been, just to connect it to one of the computers and then ask Windows to share it. This is called a shared printer. Basic Advantage and Disadvantage of Shared Network: Advantage: It works with any USB printer. Disadvantage: Your host computer has to be powered up always; otherwise the rest of the network would not be able to access the shared printer. Sharing with windows home group: Setting up a shared printer could sometimes be tricky in previous versions of Windows. But a new home networking feature in Windows has greatly simplified the process of printer setup. When a network is set up as a HomeGroup, printers and certain docs/files are automatically shared. Once your HomeGroup setup is done you have to take the following steps to configure your printing:

  2. ✓Click the Start button and go to the Control Panel. In the search box, type HomeGroup, and then click on the HomeGroup. ✓Make sure the Printer’s check box is selected. And if it’s not, then select it, and Save Changes. ✓Now go to the computer system you want to print from. ✓Open the HomeGroup by clicking the Start button > Control Panel > type HomeGroup > and click HomeGroup. ✓Now click on Install Printer. ✓And if you don’t already have a printer driver installed, click on the Install Driver in the dialog box that appears.
