  2. What is Hope Lodge American Cancer Society Hope Lodges are free, temporary residential centers for out-of-town adult cancer patients undergoing treatment. In addition to lodging, Hope Lodge provides a full spectrum of services to individuals affected by cancer and their families including counseling, patient navigation, and peer support.

  3. Hope Lodges help relieve financial burden, stress, and isolation by providing free lodging in a healing, supportive environment.

  4. Hope Lodge NYC Hope Lodge NYC is located on West 32nd street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. It is a state of the art facility featuring 60 patient rooms with private baths, shared family and meeting rooms, kitchens, laundry facilities, and other amenities.

  5. Both city residents and those traveling for treatment will have access to vital non-medical services, including counseling, nutrition and exercise classes, and support programs such as Reach to Recovery and Look Good Feed Better.

  6. Hope Lodge staff will provide assistance with transportation, as well as guidance and hospitality in multiple languages. Patients and their caregivers are able to share their experiences and gain strength from one another in a comfortable home-like surrounding.

  7. Who is eligible to stay overnight at Hope Lodge? Cancer patients who are receiving outpatient care and face significant challenges in commuting will be eligible to stay at Hope Lodge with one family member or companion.

  8. How do guests request a stay at Hope Lodge? The American Cancer Society is a provider of non-medical cancer care. We have strong relationships with many treatment facilities in New York City. Most referrals will come through social workers and health care professionals. But patients and families are encouraged to call directly at 800-ACS-2345 for Hope Lodge information.

  9. Hope Lodge opened its doors on November 5, 2007. To date we have had a total of 529 guests. The average length of stay has been 3 weeks The age of Hope Lodge guests has ranged from 20-82 years old 51% female 49% male

  11. LETTER FROM FAMILY MEMBERHOPE LODGE NYC “Words cannot describe how much I appreciate all you do for my parents at Hope Lodge. It has been an extremely difficult for us since August when my dad was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a very rare and serious cancer. We were worried about my parents being away and so far from home while undertaking such difficult treatments. But, after meeting your amazing team of caring and compassionate people this weekend, I can now put my worries to rest and know that they couldn’t have been in better hands. The activities really help them get their minds off the fact that they are sick. It is especially helpful for my mom to meet people in our same situation, even though each patient is battling their own form of the disease. The caregivers and families at the Hope Lodge are the good people and good things are happening everyday. My mother sends our family an email daily that updates us on my dad’s condition. Once she tells us about him, she always goes on to say things that have happened with them and other patients (friends). She mentions them by names. On my last day in New York for my visit with them, I went with my dad to the hospital and ran into patients that live at Hope Lodge. Their faces lit up when they saw each other and each wished the others a good day with treatment. I felt happy that they were surrounded by each other as I left for the airport.
