  2. Technology • Technology has impacted all of our lives in different ways. • As with all things, there are both positive and negative aspects of technology.

  3. Daily Life • Technology has improved the way we live. • Examples: Shopping Going to College Making travel plans Entertainment (online music)

  4. Communication Devices • The cellular phone allows us to communicate in new ways. • Examples: • From your car • Text messaging • Picture phones

  5. Communication • Wireless technology (WIFI) has allowed computing from anywhere. • Examples: • Wireless network laptops • Bar coding devices • Communicate from remote area (Iraq). • GPS ( global positioning satellite in automobiles) • Satellite radio

  6. Work • Technology has allowed people to work at home. • Outcomes: --Pros • No commuting • Raising children --Cons Don’t get to know co-workers well Loose space in your home

  7. Discovery Technology has enabled us to discover new places: Undersea camera Mars robot Hubble telescopes

  8. Examples of Negative Aspects of Technology • Loss of jobs to technology • Less personal service such as: • Recorded voices instead of people for tech support • Requires more electricity • Cyber crime

  9. Technology • Technology, even with its minor aggravations, has allowed us to see many advances in business, industry, and education.
