Time Frame / Facilities • Five month foundation and Level 1 Apprenticeship (college/district) • Traditional apprenticeship model to SSA students (college) • Transition to Trades (preparation for entry delivered by district)

Staffing / Instructors • Dual credentialed instructors are difficult to find • Attracting industry personnel due to wage differential is an issue • All trade instructors delivering dual credit programs are currently Red Seal Interprovincial Certified • College instructors have or are recommended to obtain the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma • District based instructors are currently Red Seal and certified teachers
Challenges / Solutions • Matching school semester with college terms / college aligned to district semesters • Determining seats for districts involved / dealt with on situational basis • Student selection / criteria and pre-requisites jointly established (district completes student selection) • *Open communication through regular and frequent contact involving support and instructional staff, counsellors, recruiters, and administrators
Evolution • From minimal offerings to 17 trades related programs • Currently reviewing trade model to expand offerings/delivery in all career areas
