  3. Thesis Frida’s personality originated from putting together fragments of self (multi-personality) like putting together a piece of puzzle; which is like the combination of her body parts reattached after the accidents and various surgeries.

  4. Social Background • Women under male dominance E.g. Diego’s ex-wife, Frida’s sister • Conservative • Political system: Communism • Frida’s mother-Native aboriginal Frida’s father-German Jew

Frida = female. --Gender: can be constructed after birth.Frida tends to inclines towards a more independent or ‘masculine’ type of gender. --Sexuality: preference of sexual partner. She is bisexual. **Diego only allows Frida to have female sexual partners but gets jealous with male partners. **Enjoy having multi-sexual partners.

Love:Components in relationship of Frida and Diego --Loyalty does not equal fidelity. --Frida’s limit of Diego’s sex games is defined by her sister. --Frida enjoys sex games as much as Diego. --Frida believes love cannot totally unify two person but connect them through a common characteristic found among the two individuals; love. --Frida still plays a traditional role in her relationship with Diego.   25. Short Haired Outfit • shows signs hoping to escape the image of a woman and expressing her anger. (Was hurt after discovering Diego cheated on her through her own sister. The short haired outfit is to show a way to enforcing herself with certain masculine characteristics.

  28. Questions for discussion • Can sex only happen after making a commitment such as marriage or is it like Diego said, “It is just a FUCK”? Can sex be separated from love? • How can bisexuality be defined? Is bisexuality due to the artistic personality of both Frida and Diego? • Does Frida truly enjoy the sexual relationships she had or is it simply an escape from her marital problems?
