    1. People First of Southeastern South Dakota

    3. Reaching Out Reaching Out to groups with similar interests is just one aspect of People First. Here’s a snapshot of groups we have connected, collaborated, or communicated with.

    4. Getting Involved People First also encourages members to Get Involved with other groups, projects, and opportunities in the community. Here are just a few!

    5. Planning Events People First isn’t just about dances and having fun. Money we raise by having dances go towards a good cause! Some events we’ve planned in the past couple years include: Dare to Think Workshop: PFSESD members planned and hosted this workshop at DSU in Madison in June 2009. Topics included Partners, Laughter Yoga, Rights, Self Advocacy, and Outcomes. Music Within Movie Night: PFSESD members worked with Friendslink to host a movie night at Augustana in August 2009. Members lead discussion about rights, discrimination, and the ADA following the movie. Human Services Research Institute Teleconferences: PFSESD members have participated (and invited our friends) in three exciting teleconference series in the past year. State of the States’ Budgets Relationships and Sexuality A National Conversation on Employment

    6. Sharing Information We spend time at every People First is meeting sharing information about resources, events, and opportunities for self advocates. From exciting events like the rodeo in Brookings, to educational events like the Dare to Dream conference…we cover it all!

    7. Learning A portion of each meeting is also dedicated to learning about something new. A few things we’ve learned about include:
