Each match lasts about an hour • Tournaments usually consist of 3 matches per day, which lasts about 6-8 hours (with breaks and refereeing) so about 3 hours of playing • The attack, starting with the approach ending with the landing, lasts about 5 seconds Length of Sporting Event
During a rally in a game an athlete uses anaerobic glycolysis (about 10 seconds) • There can be some really short rallies where only the ATP-PC energy system is used • During an attack the ATP-PC energy system is used Energy Systems

Each team tries to reach 25 points first (must win by 2 points) per set • College matches are best of 5 sets, 5th set goes to 15 points • High School and club matches are best of three sets • High School: 3rd sets are played to 25 points • Club: 3rd sets are played to 15 points, switching sides at 8 points Scoring
